DDJ-1000 Master output and headphones mixing master no effect

Hi. So I've got my DDJ 1000 and computer speakers hooked up to the laptop. in the rekordbox settings, I have master output set to DDJ 1000 Master + Built in Output. I've got sound working fine but when I turn the Master knob on the controller, the LEDs light up but no change happens in the sound. Also, the CUE/Master headphones mixing knob only works for the cue half. anything past the center cuts the sound so i cant hear the master output in the headphones. Any idea what i can do about that? PS This is on a MBP 2015 with Mojave
