Yep! I use mine to store my songs and main library, as well as the export database to use with a CDJ or XDJ.

Formated to fat32?
Yep - that way I can move it from Mac to PC.
HFS formatted Samsung drive takes forever to load up and at times doesn’t load at all...... Anyone else have an issue with this
same here, I even bought the newer T7 1TB with double the read/write speed and HFS+ takes forever to load once I go over like 10k tracks
I tried a FAT32 format on it and the drive loads quick but the more and more tracks I load the slower the playlist scrolling becomes because the waveforms for preview take a few seconds each to load
This is also on a Patriot 512GB flash drive so its not just the Samsung drives
I'll disagree, as my experience has been different. I have a T5 formatted HFS+ with nearly 60K songs on it, the only time it's slow is typically a keyword search.
Pulse I have a T5 and T7 drive, HFS, that both have 15k tracks, I load them in a CDJ2000/3000 and they immediately show up, then I go to my RX3 and they take 3 minutes or more, fail and then show up a minute later then I can finally use the drive for a gig
I stopped by IDJ and loaded these same drives in a 3000 that last year had this issue but then was fixed in an update I guess since I updated the player to 2.10 and then everything worked great like in this video - https://youtu.be/giyVXupGle0
then I come home with the same drives and get this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAIQ1-Uvx0A
not sure what else to try other then the developers coming up with a fix like they must have for the 3000
funny i am seeing this, was just going to make a thread, just got the RX3 today , i have a PNY USB3.0 I have used for a while on my CDJ's but on my RX3 the drive is taking a few minutes to even show up. I am reading FAT32 is quicker right now but i really do not want to format this drive from mac to fat, hoping a fix is in the pipeline soon , should i make a separate thread, this thread does not seem like it is for the RX3
PNY doesn't make quality drives - see my video comparing USB3 drives here.
Pulse are the engineers looking into this at all? i have tried like a dozen drives i have from work and other people that have these players and everyone is reporting back to me the same HFS+ issues, once loaded it plays fine but takes forever for the drive to even show up on the player
Honestly, it's got to be something else on your drive or collection. I've got nearly 60K songs on my HFS formatted 1TB T5 and it doesn't take nearly as long as your smaller collection.
they had the same issue on the CDJ-3000 though and now it is fixed and i tested it with the same exact drive so that doesn't make sense either, same drive, same collection, loads instantly on CDJ-2000nxs, nxs2, 3000 but not the RX3, I format the drive to FAT32 and it loads up immediately on all
and other people are reporting this with different drives and different libraries only on HFS also
Hmmmmm... Interesting. I have a sandisk and Samsung... Both are pretty slow.
All 3 drives work fine in FAT32 but prefers hfs and they load slow before they show up as a source. Just curious if this is something you guys are looking into.
Standard disclaimer:
Pioneer DJ does not guarantee 100% compatibility with any USB drive. Functionality of one drive does not guarantee functionality of another identical make / model drive. Manufacturers are known to change the memory controller chip per availability or cost, and as a result, there is always a chance that a drive may not be compatible with the player host chipset. Recommendations or the results of another user may not be the same for you and your drive.
Pulse was anything past on to engineers though just to look at, with all the drives everyone has tried it doesn't look like the RX3 works good with HFS vs FAT32, I ordered one of the drives in your video to test too so hoping for better results maybe.
I loaded up rb with a fresh library from scratch, added 50,000 tracks to my Samsung T5 and T7 and it doesnt even show up, just blinks for 3-4 minute, says checking file system then I get an error code and it stops checking
I can do videos if engineers need
How many playlists on it?
none, I literally just highlighted 50k tracks and exported to the freshly formatted drive and then plugged into RX3
Seems like HFS formatted drives are trying to scan and read every track on the drive before it shows up as a source and at FAT32 formatted drive skips that step and shows up as a selectable source immediately. when I plug it in as HFS the Samsung just blinks slow and fast as its being read but the RX3 just times out after 2-3 minutes and throws the error and stops trying
Just wanted to add I have been testing a bunch of drives and HFS seems to have an issue no matter what drive I try.
