PLX-1000 maximum weight but not enough

Hello,

I'm own a pair of plx 1000 and I have a problem with the weight on both tonearms not being enough. I use 2 x ortofon concorde needles, and even though I'm setting the weight to max the pressure of the needle down on the record is very low. When I cue the record, the needle tends to jump a little bit and I can feel that even with the maximum weight it's way to light. Something must be wrong, since this has not been my experience on other pairs of PLX-1000 I have tried. What do I need to do / calibrate to get more weight? The traction is not  enough at all right now.

Ortofon Concorde cartridges are super-light, so if you're not balancing things properly, they certainly can jump around. See the Ortofon FAQ page for instructions and tips on setting up your turntable properly. The guides generally mention the Technics 1200, but they apply to the PLX-1000 as well.

Thanks for the answer. I have now read through the FAQ :-)

Is there a sub weight on the back of the PLX-1000 that can be removed or is the only weight the rotary one with the dial? I have put the rotary balance weight as long forward as it can, but need to get some more weight for the needles not to jump around.

I don't have one in front of me to show you (and the service manual isn't loading today for some reason), but yes, there is a sub-weight.
