I'm not sure quite you mean. When you are in SAMPLING/EDIT mode and you record a new sample, the bottom button on-screen is "SAVE CHANGES' and you are given the ability to name your sample whatever you wish.
I had trouble explaining it myself. It just gets a little tedious typing the key and the BPM every time i name a sample. Key/scale and tempo are sort of critical when browsing existing user samples by text.
Maybe have a master key/scale for the project and then when you go to name a sample, automatically have the key and tempo typed out for you.
On a side note, it gets tedious having to set the scale for each sample. Maybe have a master scale that you can the override per track.
The ability to plug in a usb keyboard would’ve been cool too. I do a lot of user sampling. Typing on the screen becomes a chore. Overall i LOVE the SP-16 though.
