DJM 2000 Master VU meter always low -16

Hi,

My master VU meter is always very very low.

Only when i turn up the TRIM of a deck and MASTER almost completely open i hit orange. But the volume is way to loud when i do that.

As a result i always have like 2 green strips (-16) about all the time when i play at a pretty loud level. Even when i open the TRIM almost completely and that VU meter from that deck goes to RED.

What causes this?

I never see another DJM with this low VU meter on master.

It is on all decks, with vinyl and cdj and with all tracks. (losless files)

Is there a setting i can change to get normal VU meter? On the back or someting?

I have used different studio monitors. One pair i can turn output very low on monitor that gives better result on VU meter but the subwoofer is way to loud (set at lowest volume) if i do that and not in balance with the monitor sound.

When i use a headphone i can get normal VU meter display (turning TRIM and MASTER almost all the way up) so it does work.

It looks weird to have such low VU meter, this "problem" is since day 1 bought new.

Thank you

Optimal

Hey Optimal,

Can you send a video?

I assume you've got the CDJs connected to the LINE and not the PHONO inputs.

Hi, thanksfor the fast reply!

I don't know how to upload a video but i have a image.

I have connected on CD input and the switch is on CD also.

What you see on the picture is very very loud volume, if i turn the master open wider the volume is good for a club, not a house ;-)

If i would have a amplifier hooked up it would be no problem because i could arrange the volume on that but i have studio monitors.

Everything sounds okay, it's just that it looks weird and always have bugged me that on the volume i always play i only see 2 green stripes on the Master VU meter. This loud you see 4 but it's really loud. I like that but the neighbours not so much.

Your choices for volume control would be to turn down the master or turn down your speakers / amplifier. There's no harm in having that meter showing lower signal.

The downside is that the sub already is at its's lowest volume. So turning the monitors down makes the bass dominate too much.

It's weird because nobody else has this problem. It looks silly with 2 green stripes.
