No sound on rekordbox / xdi rx

I just purchased and set up my xdjrx and rekordbox. I was at first attempting to use the xdjrx as a standalone but after not hearing any sound I plugged it into the computer to no avail. I can see the tracks playing, however it doesn't show any sign of volume output neither on the monitor or by listening for it.. please help!!
