Roadmap toraiz sp16 firmware 1.5 to 1.8 ?

If they do not TORAIZ is a dead product (I mean if they stop at 1.4 and don't going further) regarding MPC Live and X to me... At the opposite if they plan refinements and new things that's change the game and keep the sales on the TORAIZ for years...

As I said I can deal with limits... as far as we have 1 EQ on every track and FX1 or FX1 and FX2... otherwise TORAIZ is a useless 1599euro tool and more a SIMPLER or SAMPLE PLAYER than a SAMPLER of course it's Sampling but editing is very limited in fact only to Start point, Loop point, End Point and Slices. (and Crop by the saving functionality)

I don't want to make more than preparing my SAMPLE to filter everything longer than 32 seconds before to put it on the TORAIZ... I will not pre-mixing everything outside of the TORAIZ... to benefit from FX1 in the effects territory.

As far as I recognize the pristine sounding of the TORAIZ and 16 tracks is perfect it's not justified the price or the usability in Studio. (ok thought for Live but as a prepared stems player) but if it's a prepared stems player... Maschine Jam or Tractor kontrol is more affordable.

Your way of thinking. My point of view is different, most of company nowadays release gear unfinished (it's better than prototype stage... but it's unfinished) For example, it took a while for Pioneer to get something acceptable let's say 1.2 it's undoubtedly because people was not very satisfied or it's confirmed the unfinished state I mention... that they planned to roll 1.1 / 1.2 / 1.3 ... fast. (Aug, 2016 / mid-Nov, 2016 /  February, 2017) but I not drop the stone on them, these updates were very good but required.

it's a good gear, the sound is awesome, no doubt. And if I can deal with some limitations (for instance 32 secondes limit, I can deal with that it's annoying to prepare everything for not exceeding that limit to not get the annoying popup warning, but I can deal with that)

But to me the most important is to be able to mixing (EQ) and have at least FX1 and not only FX1... (EQ + FX1 or FX1 + a new FX2) I don't want to mixing and editing on a computer. Editing is ok (I can deal with that other limit because there's practically no editing functions on the TORAIZ btw) because no matter what I will have to deal with 32 seconds limit so I can edit at the same time... But we need to be able to EQ and Effect on each track.

We are not talking about a 990,00 euros gear it's 1599,00 euros... it's an expensive piece of gear. A good one but to me its futur lies in the next firmware update roadmap at least 1.5 and 1.6

Also, I remember perfectly when they announce it on Sound Event like Namm, Messe, Superbooth or something, can't remember the youtube link but the prototype have way more effects on the page and the TORAIZ was released with 4 effects so... 

as 1599,00 euro is an investment on long term I would like Pioneer to make the same.

Don't get me wrong updates are needed and features do need to be added and an update on the roadmap is a must and I'm sure it will happen over the next few weeks

As I've said in previous posts we're all beta testers these days.

Every piece of gear I've owned over the past few years has had missing features and I've had to wait for updates the Tempest has been the most notorious for me,but I've always bought gear for what it does now and not in the future.

More FX slots and EQ is a must I'll give you that.

For instance (and it's from Musikmesse Frankfurt APRIL 2016) :

"Probably in their mind" is a bit of an understatement because now I see the video, they literally were promising 2 FX. The screens were designed for them. If they aren't here now, there must be a significant problem in making it work. There is no benefit in holding off for a 2.0 firmware update (IMO) those features need to be here now before the new MPCs are out. People are even saying that the SP-16 is getting old when its just having its first birthday.

I don't think the new MPCs are any competition for the SP-16 though, MPC software is too much like a DAW. In fact Pioneer should not listen to those trying to pull the SP-16 in the direction of an old MPC or a DAW. It is what it is, and I think it might be suffering from being misunderstood.

So far as I know, there were no promises for anything above 1.4 - Pioneer are being sensible doing this. You can try and promise too much in response to customer requests and leave them feeling let down when time and budget and initial design limitations get in the way of trying to please everyone.

Of course, improving/refining some functionality issues could finesse this beast. Let's see what they decide to give us!

Now for a long time that was a struggle to justify the price tag.

Having said that it's still my favourite piece of gear and one I can get totally lost in.

Lately I've been making kicks and sampling them into the SP-16 for some seriously chunky kicks.

The two actually work very well together.

Holy Cow, 2 FX blocks were already in early versions. Although calling the only FX block FX1 was a give away. This means the CPU isn't capable of running both reliably. I see no other reason there wasn't 2 FX blocks from day 1.The extra FX algorithms aren't a big deal because they can all be covered by the LFO.

I love this thing, I love the interface and the Elektron p-lock ideology. But this may be as good as it gets. If so then OK, it is far more of a sampler/seqencer for me than either the Octatrack or MPCs.

I would say I agree with you if the LFO had speed (multiplier) like on elektron machines when you put its speed in x2 x4 x8 to have a really fast LFO...

I don't find the LFO very fast so for mimic Ring Modulation or FMish sound it's not so easy. but I agree for Trans, Roll and Tremolo there's workaround.

@Bryan: As it was a preview of the version that was sold months later on, I think it was just a mock up to show something to the people at the messe. It maybe was probably in their mind, but not implemented yet (and maybe never will be). It is not nice to show the people an empty effects screen.

However, these effects and a second fx per track would be awesome indeed. :)

i would like to thank the toraiz sp-16 developement team to finally bring FX2 on the Toraiz that's great. But if you can also deliver more effects as it was planed at the beginning that would be amazing. [ but it take so many times guys ]

Full FX list: chorus, flanger, phaser, ring mod, tremolo, auto pan, distortion, lofi, delay, reverb, 2pole EQ, filter, compressor, limiter, ducker, vinyl brake, trans, roll

To tell you i'm thankful i bought for the third time the SP-16. Don't get me wrong now with 64sec, Live sampling and 2 fx slots it's better. I'm afraid you will drop anymore firmware update because the price massively drop seems like to get rid of the last item in stock and bye bye. I hope you will add those missing FX types. And if you can gives us an LFO2 it would be probably one of the best Sampler ever with the octatrack for sure.

it's ok in this state but with just the full FX list and a LFO2, you can really produce another batch - or you will let us and release a SP-16 mk2

I wouldn't jump on the MPCs just yet.

They haven't even been released and it's just guesswork as to what they're actually like.

Akais track record has been shocking of recent years and let's not forget the 1000 and 2500 were only so popular due it JJOS support and not Akai themselves.

Having said that I'm interested to see what they're actually like but I like the fact the SP-16 and MPCs and Octatrack are different beasts.

I'm sure Pioneer will come up with a good few updates yet but as Re Generator said if they make to many promises and don't keep them people will go nuts.

It hasn't even been out a year yet and it's been well supported so far.
