XDJ-RX2 Touch Screen Issues (needle search)
I have noticed since getting my unit, that on some occasions, the touchscreen when using needle search either doesn't work at all, or moves randomly all over the place and not the place I'm touching. If I power down the unit then turn it back on it usually fixes the issue, but its not good. Youtube videos to follow when I get a second.
When I restart the unit it works flawlessly for hours, I can sort of replicate it by touching the screen with another finger somewhere else whilst trying to needle search. Obviously when the issue happens I don't have another finger on the screen at all and I'm just using a single finger.

Pulse, please can you advise?

I know this doesn't directly address that particular issue, but are you using the 1.20 firmware?

Weird, not sure why that posted as "other me."

Yes, I updated a few days ago and the issue still persists

Let me pass that along to our hardware team to see what they have to say.

Ok, thanks pulse. To me it seems like the touch screen is experiencing intermittent ghost touches

Did you manage to pass this on Pulse? I have since taken my unit back where I got it from for an exchange

Actually, my new unit does it exactly the same, it happens when the unit has been off for a few days, and I cover the screen when not in use with the white sheet that the RX2 comes wrapped in out of the box. When I remove the white sheet, turn the unit on for the first time in a few days, the left needle search doesn’t work at all, then after a couple of minutes starts working but hit and miss, and then after a reboot it’s fine. This is either a build up of static on the screen from the white stuff, or deffo a firmware issue.

I hadn't heard back, but to hear you're having the same issue with a second unit, and no other users have had a similar experience, I would say it's possible that it's static. Have you tried discharging the static by touching the XDJ-RX2 and something else, eg. anything metal or any electronics which may also be grounded?

The issue only lasts for a few minutes then goes away. I’m only using the white sheet until a deck saver is released. It always seems to be the bottom left of the touchscreen. It’s not causing an issue as now I know that the unit isn’t faulty as it’s been swapped over. Just seems strange

@Keith > The engineers have asked the following:
・Did you always have this issue after launching the XDJ-RX2? Did it happen after doing any specific things, such as moving a slider, turning a knob, pressing a button or turning a jog?
・Did you have the same issue on the other deck (DECK2)?
・Can you properly use the key board on the browser search screen?
Please check if the letter Z, X or C key on the keyboard on the right side near the needle search is pressed, does the brightness of the buttons change while the issue occurs?
・Does this issue occur when playing specific tracks? If other tracks are loaded while the issue occurs, do you see any difference?

If the unit has been off for over 24 hours then I have the issue but there are a few times the issue hasn't been there at all.
It is always from cold after never being switched on for over 24 hours.
It can affect both decks, as it seems to be the lower of the touch screen, although I need to test the top of the keyboard if I face the issue again.
I do not touch any knobs or buttons or sliders after first turning it on apart from selecting the track.
I doesn't matter which track I use I still face the issue, even if I change the track it still occurs.
The issue usually starts off with the needle search not working at all, then it eventually becomes responsive after a couple of minutes but doesn't work how it should, then after another couple of minutes its working 100% for the rest of the time I'm using it, even after several restarts.
It also affects the lower letters of the keyboard.
It seems like the touchscreen needs to warm up slightly.
I can't recall having the issue after leaving the unit with nothing covering the touchscreen. I covered it with a t-shirt last night, and when turning it on tonight I faced the issue.
From now on I will not be covering the touchscreen with anything to see if I still get the problem and to rule out static.

Thanks - I've passed that along!

@keith > I'm going to include you on the internal ticket discussion; please see your email for a link to reply to that, or click here.

I've been having needle problems with my RX2 too, especially when trying to bring the track back to the start on either deck.

My unit started doing the cache today. It was doing it when I first had it but I put it dien to the whitetsheet static. It disappeared due a while but happened again this morning. I rebooted twice and it was still doing it, so I tried to think of anything that might be causing static. I changed out of a fleecy dressing gown and coincidentally or not it was working fine after that! I'm at a loss, I'm sure it was a coincidence! When it is playing up, Some of the keys worked fine, but when I pressed S, it was registering on Friday and G for example.

We have our engineers investigating - they are going to be collecting @keith's unit for inspection. Stay tuned!
