The DJM-S3 does not include rekordbox dj or dvs as the S3 is not rekordbox-compatible, and neither it, nor the S9, will include bundled rekordbox licences, and there are no plans to provide promotional licenses either. Sorry!
Hey Team!
Hope all is well.
I have recently purchased a DJMS9, brand new also with a pair of CDJ2000NXS2.
I was excited to try out the DVS features - but I don't like serato, I use RB for organising music for when I play on the CDJS, and wish to be able to use 1210's and DVS without running multiple programs and wasting time.
I see you will be shipping DVS/performance codes with the S3 - and as an S9 owner - I am hoping that you will retrospectively offer these codes to owners of S9s with proof of purchase or something now that RB has full native support for the S9.
I look forward to your response.
Toby

Ah apologies - I must have misread some info regarding the S3 somewhere.
That is a great shame - (no offence to Serato) but I just don't want to use their software! I'm sure you understand that I'd prefer to keep all my workflow in RB!
Well - plans or not to include licences, I do think that now RB has native support for the terrific features of the S9, a license should be included with new S9s. Much like Xbox Games - a one use license code system, where if you buy second hand - you don't necessarily get the "DLC"
I Know I'm not your biggest customer, but I own 4x CDJ2000nxs1, 2x CDJ2000nxs2, DJM900nxs, DJM2000nxs, DJMS9 (plus some older kit, MEP700, 2x CDJ800, and a DJM3000!) - I've always used Pioneer and have used RB from early days!!
I just feel that some of the built in features of the S9 have been locked away from me unless I use your competitors software! Yuk!
Trial reset perhaps?! You know - for testing purposes!
I understand the frustration, the top end gear doesn't come with a license, yet the cheapest stuff does. Unfortunately the decision was made that the top-level equipment is more likely to be used in a stand-alone or link configuration as opposed to a control/performance mode setup, so they wouldn't require rekordbox dj licenses.
I completely agree when discussing performance with CDJ. I do use ProDj link and have the laptop in the booth, using control CDs with that is (imho) pointless.
However, when using 1210s and S9 - this isn't possible, and DVS is completely necessary.
I guess it is what it is, I'm not happy to use Serato, but when I want to use the 1210s I will have to. I'm sure there will be a way to bridge iTunes or RB into it. Eugh, it's alien!
Thanks for the reply though!!
Right, and as the only 2ch mixers we have with rekordbox support (the DJM-450 and DJM-250MK2) don't really match up to the performance aspect of the DJM-S9, I understand the desire to use the S9! Because of licensing agreements with Serato, it won't come with rekordbox in the retail box, but it is supported and you can purchase a license to expand the unit's original intended function, just like the DDJ-SZ, SX2, SX, SR and SB.
