Rekordbox 6.6.8 cannot get loop to be active in export mode

I've seen versions of this answered however not for my specific setup.  In perfomance mode, I set a single loop. (not multiple loops, as I know only a single active loop is allowed)  It is saved as a hot cue loop.  In performance mode, it is set as an active loop (red).  I switch over to export mode and it is no longer red, but reverts back to orange.  I cannot click on the orange loop in export mode to change it red.  Doing so only causes rekordbox to play the loop every time I click on the hot cue memory indicator.  The indicator arrow stays orange.  Ultimately, I play the tracks on a CDJ-3000.  Not sure what gives...?  Help would be appreciated! :)
