DXJ-XZ No-USB displayed and not reading from USB during performance

Hi

We had a catastrophic failure of our brand new (used twice previously, only 6 months old) XDJ-XZ (white) this past weekend. During a show the unit stopped reading from either USB slot, and showed "No USB" on the display when hitting browse. The loaded tracks on both decks continued to play, however skipping tracks just played the same track again, despite the display reflecting a different track. The two USBs have been used many times without issue, both are SAMSUNG BAR Plus 3.1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BPG9YX9/

I was able to start a loop on the playing deck whilst I frantically tried to figure out a solution to no avail. We ended up having to power cycle the unit to fix the issue, and then subsequently took the unit out and replaced it with the venue's CDJ 3000s.

This is obviously very concerning for a $2500 unit and pretty much the 2nd worse thing that could happen to a DJ during a performance, trumped only by total loss of sound.

The unit is running firmware 1.24 and has never had any other issues.

Please let me know how to resolve this.

Thanks

Oli

I've seen a few cases Samsung Bar drives were the culprit -- especially USB3.1 drives; can you please try using a different USB drive (preferably USB3.0 or 3.2) and see if the problem returns?

Thanks.

Both drives have been used in countless consoles, CDJs, etc and never had an issue. Both sticks were plugged in for at least an hour before this issue surfaced too.

Regardless of that it's highly unlikely both drives malfunctioned at the same time, and even if one drive were to have an issue, that shouldn't cause the entire console to lock up and become non-functional. I could understand if it couldn't read from one of them but not both. I even tried ejecting one drive and plugging in a separate Samsung SSD, but that was not read either. Literally nothing worked on the console for browsing USBs. How can that happen?

There are many potentials, I'm not ruling out the unit itself as the problem, or even a loose connection internally ... but I can tell you from experience that the Samsung Bar has been the drive used in a number of tickets for users.

Troubleshoot it further -- can you repeat the problem? Is it specifically after a certain amount of time? Does it happen with only one drive in use? Does it matter which port? What are you doing at the time the freeze occurs?
