[CLOSED] Native Instruments Audio 10 Mk2, Traktor 2.6, DJM900SRT sound drop outs

Hi guys,

this issue happened to me again last night but am starting to think I suspect something with the specific mixer, given its the only common reoccuring thing in the configuration at this club I play at.

Running Traktor 2.6.x, older Mac OSX (10.7 AFAIK) but its been great for 3 - 4 gigs a week for 18 months and stable. I used, in this situation, an Audio 10 (mk2),  CDJ2000n's and a DJM900SRT mixer. I played at this location about 4 weeks ago and the same thing happens. ie: about 3 - 6 minutes in to playing a track, the sound quality starts to distort gradually, until its completely gone. Traktor still whirls away, lights on A10 still going but sound stopped. Pull USB cable in and out (to/from A10) and it gets going again, for another 3 - 6 minutes. Played with this A10 many times and no issues. I have the latest drivers for it, latest firmware, etc.

Only time this has happened is the two times where I've played with the 900SRT at this one particular club. Infact I did play on another 900SRT around 6 months ago with the same A10 (3 hour set) and no issues what so ever.

I appreciate that this is happening with Traktor and an audio 10, but this problem only appears to happen with a Pioneer 900SRT and more specifically, just this one.

Thanks

Adam

Well, just thinking about your setup really quickly, the SRT should be acting as a conventional Mixer only based on what you are saying.  Meaning If you are using the A10, then you must be using the RCA inputs right?  And not connecting the 900 SRT to your laptop at all via USB.

If this is the case, I can't see why the SRT would be doing this with the combination of the things you are using. unless it does it for any audio source going in that route.

If you have access to the 900SRT, I have a couple of suggestions:

-Try installing the DJM 900 SRT drivers. If you have it, reinstall it.

-Try using the SRT as your sound card to eliminate the A10 from the equation.  (I have used the SRT once before with Traktor and I had no issues).

If you experience the same issue, then you know it's more than likely the mixer.  If you do not, then I would guess that the A10 is causing this.

Have you also tried using a different USB cable from your laptop to the A10? Try to use one with ferrite cores on it.  You should be able to get them for under $20.

Curious as to why you would use the A10 if you have the SRT?

What are the specs for your computer (RAM / CPU)?

@walter_white - I'll give drivers a go (updating). But inline with your question and also @pulse from Pioneer DJ, the SRT wasn't working when I plugged the USB cable into the mixer. Traktor saw it, and signal was going from decks to laptop via timecode, but traktor wasn't about to get the output back again. I was out of time before the set so I didn't diagnose it any further.

Overall the problem appears to be either a midi overload on the A10, or, its a power drain (which could be connected to the midi thing). Could have the problem occur away from the club and the particular SRT mixer so its not specific to that location. Moving this back to NI to sort out!

Thanks both.

I'll close this thread, if you find you need more assistance on the issue, please start a new topic and link over to this one.
