Beat Grids

Hello Pioneer,

I am  having trouble setting the grids on a track and was wondering if someone could have a look at it for me please, I have attached the track....Just One Night - Dawn.

What kind of problems are you having?

It might help to provide a little bit more information.

When I import the track to Rekordbox version 2.0.1 set the first beat on Normal mode the down beat is moving constant and by the end of the track it can't be corrected.

Do you mean the beat grid shifts more and more as the track goes?

Yeah, I tried it on Dynamic as well, and changing the bpm on normal mode to see if it got any better, have you had a look at it yourself?

This means that either Rekordbox did not analyze the BMP correctly or your track has changes in tempo in the middle of it (like live recorded music sometime).

If you click on the little triangle pointing down to the left of the memory cue point bank, you will see a bunch of tools that can be used to adjust the beatgrid and/or the bpm so that the grid fits all the way through the track.

I know I have had a look at it, nearly every beat is off from start to finish, I have attached the track download it and have a look and see what you think yourself.

you should not be using version 2.0.1, it has slightly the same problems as version 1.5.4.. and has not been authorized by pioneer to use.. The best and latest version to have right now 1.6.2 ... Than check the box in your rekordbox  General settings at the bottom to make sure it reads the bpm correctly on your cdjs.. you will see ... hope this helps

1.6.2 clears the problems for 1.5.4 and 2.0

@Matt not sure where you saw that Pioneer has not authorized 2.0.1 for use???? Can you link to the post for that?

@neil your track is about 118bpm. You just need to adjust the bpm and move the beatgrid slightly to the right.

I can hear it was recorded off a vinyl so it's possible that the speed will drift during the track as some turntables have a tendency to do that.

Alot of people have had problems with 2.0. and i have read forums where people that have intalled rkb 1.5.4 and 2.0 that arent suppose to will have alot of beatgrid misalingnments and shifts etc. 1.6.2 offers a option where you can wipe away 1.5.4 and 2.0...its all in the forums... I use two cdj 2000s and a Djm800... it worked for me when i accidently installed 1.5.4 and it F**ked up everything lol... And i hear it solves the problem for 2.0.1 aswell.. try it out

when you put it through Rekordbox did you have to set the first beat? mine was sitting between the first and second, just asking in case I am placing the first mark at the wrong point.

@Matt Again, point me to one quote from a pioneer person saying "Don't use 2.0.1". I might have missed it myself.

@Neil Yes, like I said you have to adjust the BPM and move the grid to the right a bit. If you move the grid it moves all the beats, including the first one.

I adjusted the bpm as you said and it still is a mile out, I set the first beat and every beat after that is still out.

send me a file of the one you have set the drids on so I can have a look at it.

@neil I can't send you a file, beat grids are stored in RB's database not in the track itself.

Like I said, the BPM is roughly 118 but it's not exact and since it's recorded off vinyl, you may have to adjust it mid-track by dropping a new grid marker.

I got it pretty close by setting the BPM to 118 and moving the grid. I'm sure that if you spend more time getting familiar with the tools and the documentation, you can get it even better than I did.

@Neil > Where did you get this track from? Did you rip it from vinyl?
