why are you trying to access them that way after the export? This is done so you use RB to organize and find the tracks. I know I have never had to go to the contents folder for any reason, Curious why you are
I recently downloaded rekordbox and think that it is a great way to sort all of my music. However when I export, for example, a playlist onto my USB I encounter problems with getting rekordbox to copy and sort the playlist in the way I would like it to.
After exporting a playlist on to the USB, I open up the USB in the browser to find two folders of pioneer and contents. After clicking on contents, all the songs in the playlist have been exported but they are sorted in folders of the artist of the song. After clicking on an artists folder, it then opens into another folder with the name of the album. After clicking this folder I am presented with the song. I don't want this extensive folder layout as it takes me time to find which song I'm looking for.
Ive tried changing the export settings and whatever I do I still seem to get the same result of the songs being put into subfolders. Just wondering if there is anyway to get my songs copied onto the USB, so after I have clicked on the contents folder, it will take me to a list of folders with the playlists as they are in rekordbox. Each folder that represents a playlist would then have the songs listed in the way that they are in rekordbox.
Thanks

This was just to prove my point about how they are sorted on the USB. When I plug my USB's into the CDJS I still have the same problem. Im initially presented with a contents folder, and after clicking this folder the folders with all the artists are still listed
gotcha but the point in all this is to not browse from the CDJ in the contents folder, in RB you create playlists which is what you browse on the CDJ and you can sort and browse by artist, title, genre etc...... I have a feeling you're doing something wrong or trying to use all this in a way it's not intended for.
Yes you can just create folders yourself on the drive and browse it on the CDJ on your own but they wont be analyzed then, it is suggested to put all your music into rb, use the export feature to the usb drive after all the playlists are set and then browse those playlists from the cdj
maybe watch the training videos if you're confused
This is the problem, I don't know where I am going wrong. For example, I have a playlist and right click on it to export it onto my USB but the same problem occours. The songs are ordered as I said above. Ive watched these videos but they don't seem to help.
I have reset the export preferences to the defualts and in the sort and category tabs only have the default options in the active categories. I don't see where I'm going wrong as the only way I can get them in the folders I want at the moment is to create the folders in explorer and then drag and drop from rekordbox; however this then makes using rekordbox a bit pointless
where are your music finally originally stored? on the usb drive or the internal drive?
can you shoot and upload a quick video with your phone so we can see exactly what you are doing from beginning to end?
all my music is stored on my computer and there is nothing else on the USB. trying to upload the video now but its taking a long time. Can I ask your method of exporting your playlists to see if its the same as mine?
For me, I go into my playlists, right click the one that I want to export to the USB. Then go onto export playlist and select which USB drive I want to export them onto. I really don't see where I'm going wrong but after its completed the problem occurs which I explained above
thats exactly what I do, I will check the video out to see what it looks like on your cdj and see how you explained the issue, for me I do the following
all my music is on internal
I drag ALL my music into RB and let it anazlyze
create playlists and drag tracks into them
plug in usb
right click on individual or all playlists and choose export to usb
plug into cdj and i can browse the playlists with no issues
it must be the setting that I have then. Are you using rekordbox 2.0.7? and if you go into the explorer of the USB (like my first screenshot) are all your playlists listed there or is it in the same format as mine?
yes, 2.0.7. The usb should have 2 folders, 1 is a pioneer "HIDDEN" folder and the other is contents. Again, there is really no reason to ever even go into that drive. Rekordbox is creating a database on the drive that the CDJ can read and display your playlists, Kinda like itunes, if you create a playlist in itunes it's really only pointers to where the track lies, it doesnt create a folder on the usb drive for every playlist if thats what you are trying to find, all it does is makes folders for all your tracks and the the playlists point to those tracks
heres a step by step video i made quick for you, I am tired and sound like a douche so sorry if it's not clear and I stumble a little, LOL
I'm having the EXACT same problem Matt Coombs had above on rekordbox version 4.2.4.
I have to open two folders to get to my song.
I've done just about everything. Rebooted; installed rekordbox like 5 times; set my catagory and sort to its original settings; I've cleared my usb many times; formatted it; made sure it was FAT32; I've use 32GB; 64GB; I'm using a PC and NOT a MAC. I've followed all the videos as to how to import and export my songs.
Yet, still, I get two folders to get to my songs, instead, of opening "contents" and just having the song there in my usb. Then when I plug into cdj2000 (which I don't have, I have to wait to get to venue) It gives me error messages saying something like, "error collapse file." I'm about to give up. The comments above really didn't give a solution. Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong? Is it a box somewhere that needs to be checked? Frustrated~
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
~Thank you Cristina
Btw, I'am the one using version 4.2.4 of rekordbox. :)
