Added 3 albums from a local folder on my Macbook but when I select a track I get a file is missing error. I then use the relocate feature but when I select the track it says the file is already in the collection. Have deleted the tracks and added again but with the same results

Let's figure that out... what is the path of the files in the finder? Find this by going to the file, press Command+I and in the Info window, copy the Where field.
And what is the path that rekordbox believes them to be in? Find this by going to the track in rekordbox, open the info pane from the right, copy the Location field.
Paste them here.
Strange thing is I just went to check again and now they are all there. Will keep monitoring it in case it happens again.
