Hrmmm...ok... not sure why it matters though. I'm sure there is a teardown somewhere... Pioneer reminds me of Apple a bit in that regard.

I think is for the better, because i would not want Pio to enter in a spec race, to this  equipment i think is meaningless and you should concentrate in what the equipment allows you to do in a functional way.

Maybe as a curious fact is OK but it should not be something that you take as a deciding factor.

Maybe. Just doing some mental math. Most laptop DVS systems require a minimum 2.0 Ghz CPU and 2 Gigs ram, to handle two decks. So that makes me guess the CDJs are running somewhere around 1 Ghz and 1 gig ram. I was speculating to myself if hardware is playing a part in any of the issues like master tempo distortions, and the clicks/pops MP3 issue...Maybe the reason new issues arise every time others are fixed with firmware updates is a shortage of resources? Hopefully not considering the players are the cost of a really nice laptop EACH.

I'm not stressing on it though. After months of pining for them I just ordered my CDJ 2000's today. Pretty stoked. :-D

Maybe you are right, but this kind of equipment with one purpose, tend to implement some features at hardware level, for example instead of having to use cpu time to decode the music tracks they may have a special purpose chip so i can do it faster and the cpu can be used to other functions.

The pc on the other hand have to spend tons of cpu time in things that the cdj can do with special purpose chips.

That would make your comparison a very dificult one and i would not expect that kind of specs inside.

Great point Tarmadadj, I'm sure with things like different chip specialization they can get by with less raw power. The gearhead in me was just curious though so I thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

Don't forget, a PC has to spend CPU time on managing the rest of it's hardware and running the OS, not to mention all those apps you've got running in your systray/dock, anti virus, product update detection etc...

It's a bit like why games consoles seem underspecced when compared to PCs, yet the games always look and play awesome.  It's all relative anyway - my mobile phone runs at 1GHz but I can't imagine it'd be any good running one half of a DVS system... :)
