I use firmware version 4.04 and have also tesame problem with some mp3's.
As the title says i hear strange noise when playing mp3s at 320 kbps
Source - flash drive
firmware - 4.01 (it happened on 4.0 also)
Master tempo is off
original tempo
Here is a description of the picture :
A - this wave form represents the original mp3 file imported in cubase (320 kbps mp3)
B - this wave form represents the cdj2000 output , playing the mp3 file (first time)
C - this wave form represents the cdj2000 output, playing the mp3 file (te 2nd time) - it happens in the same spot
D - this wave form represents the cdj2000 output, playing the mp3 file ( ON THE OTHER CD PLAYER)
E - this wave form represents the cdj2000 output, playing the same track after after converting it to wav , (so the cd player is playing a wav file now)
E comments : the conversion history of the file played : original mp3 - > wav
F - this wave form represents the cdj2000 output, playing the previous wav file (point E) after converting it back to mp3 - it happens a lil further (the cd player is playing a mp3 file now)
F comments : the conversion history of the file played : original mp3 -> wav -> mp3

Compelling evidence, Marian, I like it!
I have also noticed that some of my mp3's suffer pop's and click's playing via RekordBox and also USB flash drive, but not on my(not connected) ipod or via my pc using various software players from windows media player right up to Foobar2000.
When said mp3 is converted to a wav the problem is no longer there!, currently doing test's on different encoders to find out if it's a particular mp3 encoder that's causing this issue !
Never noticed any clicking with my MP3's as yet, but not done much mixing yet on this latest F/W.
I also noticed that:
1 - after hearing the strange sound, if i grab the platter and spin backwards just a few seconds before the x position and release it the strange sound won't be heard again
2 - after hearing the strange sound, if i grab the platter and spin backwards for a longer time (about 40 - 50 seconds - i used the needle search ) the strange sound will be there again .
Is not just 1 tick , there are more, its sounds distorted.
@ tHeHuSsLeR
I've checked and and double checked , no distorted sound when i play the same mp3 file via rekordbox nor any other software.
Ive played both files in rekordbox, the one stored in my computer and the one stored on my flash drive (which i used when played on cdj2000). No pops and crackles.
Sorry i mean when playing via RekordBox Link, i get the pops or clicks.
If i just play in software via RekordBox i don't hear the pop's or clicks ! : )
I hope that pioneer fix this problem in next firmware.
Funny that there is no responce so far from pioneer tech.
This issue is already being discussed in a topic with a ticket here, engineers are already investigating the reported problems.
