[SOLVED] XDJ-Aero and USB Stick

Hi, when I put tracks onto my USB stick and then put the stick into the Aero, I noticed the BPM's on the tracks are all over the place. Can Rekordbox not scan the tracks while on a USB stick? I was mixing a track and looked at the track coming from my USB stick and the BPM's were up and down. Also when I load tracks from the pc from Rekordbox the tracks that get loaded up onto the decks play right away. Can they not wait till I press play? I love the Aero, it's a good system :).

Press auto cue (quantize) button for a longer while and the track will be not playing straight away. Did you read the manual? Export the tracks to your USB via rekorbox. They will be analized.

Cool, I have just noticed the auto cue button feature. The only hard part about putting files from Rekordbox onto my USB stick is that I have to drag the files over one at a time. I don't want the 4000+ tracks on my Rekordbox going onto my USB stick at one time. I won't use most of them, I just want two styles of music on my USB stick. The only trouble I am having now is getting my Rekordbox on my pc to connect to the Aero upstairs in my house. I forgot how to do it. I had a quick look through the manual, but I could not see any thing that helped. I will have another try today. It's probably something on my PC that needs to be done, to make it connect. Thanks

The way I do it is to create a playlist in Rekordbox and then export that to the usb stick by right clicking on the playlist name and selecting the export option.-

Hi,

I am currenlty faced with the following issues (for XDJ-AERO and USB drive);

a) the volume difference when playing from rekordbox (Mobile-Android) and from USB, quite a difference ...

b) All my tracks appear as (Not analyzed) - so no quantize, sync, .....

Read something in the manual FAQ about it, but it is not that clear as to why ... and again same exported tracks through rekordbx Mobile = no issue.

PS; yes, I have exported all my tracks through rekordbox 1.6.2, exporting a playlist to device.

For test purposes I even reformatted and re-exported :-)

USB drive is a FAT32 - 64 GB drive that works well on CDJ's (2000).

Hi,

For what concerns (b) - All tracks appear as "Not analyzed".

In the meanwhile I did some further investigation and it seems to be releated to the size (or number of files) on the USB device. For this specific one I tried another (smaller) USB drive of 4 GB, and all tracks were present as before and this time with the beatgrid information intact.

I still don't know whether this is related to Rekordbox or the XDJ-AERO.

If I come accross some further info, I 'll let you know.

PS; Rekordbox warns me of not being able to handle more than a 1000 file for some playlists. But for the issue at hand, it should not be relevant.

Hi,

Further diagnosis on (b);

I copied 1 Playlist (which includes 922 tracks) to the device, and I can see tracks in the file structure (Content) along with the the additional files under the file structure (Pioneer). Even when I consult the device directly through Rekordbox, I can see the beatgrid popping up almost instantaneous (whcih according to me proves its presence).

However the same USB device on the XDJ-AERO lists the playlist and tracks ... but at each time states that the tracks are "Not analyzed".

File structure issues ? Pulse, happy hunting ...

for (b) confirmed - USB Memory stick of 64 GB (FAT32-64k sectors) gives issues on the XDJ-AERO.

Re-partition/reformat the device to a lower capacity (32 GB) and it should work fine (as workaround).

  • Also tested with frimware 1.06 (no solution).

Hi there,

does anyone know how big the maximum size of an mp3 or wav file is that I could load into a deck using the USB stick ?

Background is, when I'm bookedd for a party have some already mixed files with me. Those file are prox 100 MB big. I can't load them into a deck.

Hi,

A further update - the blocking issue / problem, as I described previously, seems to be gone / solved.

I can now use my USB Memory stick of 64 GB (FAT32-64k sectors) on the XDJ-AERO with firmware: v2.00 (17 December, 2012 Update)

Thanks software team.

Have Fun.

Hi DJ_LINK2U, can I ask how did you format a 64GB stick to FAT32? Did you use a tool? Windows 7 Will not allow you to do this. Thanks.

Hi,

  • either the manufacturer of your key has such tool available (mine was Patriot website) to format your flash drive FAT32 (recommended).
  • or if you are familiar with the command line (cmd) perform a > format drive: /FS:FAT32
  • Another option is to download software like Easeus Partition Master Home to partition and format your drive>

Up to you to select one.

But it should not be to difficult and if not PM me (or facebook).

OK I have tried options 1 and 2 on your list but still no joy. Is it a problem with the size of the stick? My 64GB doesnt work but my 16GB does.  I will try to get a copy of the partition master today and try that. Do I need to make the partition smaller?

@Al > 32GB is the maximum supported size USB stick so that may be why there is an issue.

Thanks to DJ_LINK@U for the background and further research.

My tracks were coming up "Not Analysed" and not recognising memory cue points set in Rekordbox. I reformatted my 32GB thumb drive to Fat32 with 16kb cluster size and it worked fine. BTW I had previously tried a 64kb cluster size and that is when things weren't working. I also duplicated my playlist set to an 8GB (FAT32 with 4KB cluster size) and it worked a treat.

Solution: FAT32 with small clusters will bring across your analysis and memory cue points.

Check this video for what I mean by a memory cue point for a track:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnOiC7irrOI
