[SOLVED] Recording on the XDJ-R1

How can I record my mix / set with the XDJ-R1?

This is the only thing that's stopping me from buying it right away!

Connect it to an external "recording-device"...

(computer, tape-recorder, phone, line-input on an XDJ-Aero...)

Pioneer, when you create a new product, add features, don't remove them. The list of compromises one must take in to account when choosing between the Aero or R1 is remarkable.

Taking this further, why didn't you just make one unit that can play CD's then a slimmer version that cannot? Seriously, why didn't you?

Creating remarkably similar products with no compatibility is just crazy.

I've been looking at the block diagram on page 37 in the users manual and I can see that there is a recording path from the master out via usb.  You can record your set to a computer so what's wrong with doing it that way?

Since the path is there the unit might someday in the future, with a firmware update, be able to record sets to a usb stick connected to it.

The USB is to connect with VDJ, I don't know about direct to USB device as you can with the AERO.

I don't know if you need to switch to pc mode to record on the r1, but by my observations with every other manufacturer, is that if you connect a usb cable to the back of the unit to your computer it should be able to pull the audio going to the master out to the software of your choice.

If you look at the block diagram on page 37 in the user manual on the top right you will see the master out, follow it back to the master level then follow it back to the dot and you should see an arrow pointing down to pc master out.  This is where the audio is pulled to the unit's soundcard and sent to your computer via usb.

Hope this helps
