[SOLVED] Should I swap my Aero for R1 or?

Hi, I have the Pioneer XDJ-Aero and I can use it pretty well. The only thing I miss is using is cd's now and again. Is it worth swapping my Aero for the R1 or should I buy a single Pioneer player to link with my Aero? I was thinking of either the CDJ-850K or the CDJ-900 to have along side my Pioneer Aero? Any help on this would be great. Thanks

What do you mean by you miss your CDs? Do you have tracks on them that you can't access otherwise?

One of the reasons I swapped my cdj1000s for the aero was to eliminate the constant burning of CDs.

I don't even use the USB on the aero, which was another reason i got the aero, I stream my tracks from the rekordbox app on my tablet. Its great.

I have a few CD's from when I had my Pioneer CMX-3000 decks. It would take me ages to rip them all to my pc. I might just do that and buy myself some nice monitor speakers instead. I am looking to buy the Pioneer S-DJ80X or the Pioneer SDJ05 speakers. What speakers will work best with the Aero? Will I need any new leads if I buy either speaker models? Thanks

Be aware of the differences before making the jump. I do not talk about the advantages of the R1 on the Aero like XLR, effects, vinyle mode, and so on.

I will talk you about the things you assume finding on the R1 and that are not:

  • No management of playlist folders

  • No management of 1st cue memory

  • No management of rekordbox categories (color, genre, etc...)

All these things are pretty usefull on the Aero but not working on R1 and with no answer from Pioneer (except for rekordbox categories, will never work on the R1 due to hardware issue)

I can tell you this, the XDJ-R1 only works about 30% of the time with files copied from rekordbox for me.  For some reason, if I try to create an XDJ-R1 library (you have to do this within the settings on rekordbox, not sure why only the xdj-r1 has a special setting for a special library), I either get a message saying "   ", or when I move a track over, it just doesn't move.  Doesn't even show up in the playlist within rekordbox.

So, I pretty much have given up on using Rekordbox with the XDJ-R1.  I still use it, but I either play from CDs or USB that just have folders and files thrown on them, not organized using Rekordbox.

The XDJ-R1 is a decent controller, but when it comes down to it, don't use it with Rekordbox.  Does not work.

I have the opposite issue to what Aaron is having, non-RB analyzed files are not ideal for me (inaccurate BPM and looping, no tag info, can only browse using folder) although I have several RB tracks that won't play, another issue I have with RB is the 10,000 track limit.
