BIG THANK YOU!
This new update is completely unexpected and exciting! I can't wait to try it! So glad I chose this console.
Yea like people have said this is a great update though I'm yet to try it.
Well done!!!
Thanks x100. Cannot wait to get home and update my unit.
Merry Christmas to all at Pioneer, your hard work this year has been appreciated.
Bring on 2014!!
Curious, how long does the update take to perform? It is now over thirty minutes and the display just says "update“ Yes I followed the instructions, download firmware, extract, copy to usb, turn on unit holding holding trans & roll, plug in usb. Update displayed but no progress bar.
Seems I have egg on my face, I copied the extracted folder, not the file. I am now updated!
easily done Phillip - it wasn't mentioned if you needed to extract the file on the video when you place it in the root of the USB (almost did the same!)
I installed the updates last night when I got home and am so far loving it!! Really fun to use and great to have additional control over the fx and beat parameters. I had been working on a performance video so decided to incorporate the new app into it and here's the results. I'm only using the XY with echo/filter and even then just occasionally, but I'm sure I'll be exploring using the new features much more over xmas.
Cheers so much Pioneer - great addition !!
I tested the new firmware and I have been thinking … if have difficult about the modernization of equipamanto supporting hotcues for limitations of hardware. why don.t adapt this condition rekordbox app to function as a kind of Traktor and so have a chart of waves of track and buttons on the screen of smartphone or tablet to call hotcues. Keep the tip. Pardon for the English. Congratulations pionner.
I've tested the new features and I must say that they are very nice. Well done to Pioneer for a good update like this!
It shows me clearly now that how powerful is the XDJ Aero and that it could be possible to remote control almost every such parameter.
I bet the new firmware opened a new horizon of new stuff that could be done into this integration between rekordbox mobile and the unit itself.
Still hope to see a "tap to cue" feature into the waveform that is showed in the loading screen though in a near future. So we could visually cue a track at any point just tapping into the waveform. Honestly it's the only feature I am really missing in it.
Still no cue memory recall? No waveform profile and progress bar on the app and/or the device? Neither of these appear to be particularly difficult to implement (especially on the app.) If the app shows the waveform profile, cue points and hot cues, it could snap to and load the closest point as the Aero's current cue, which would be a slick implementation of Char's 'tap to cue' request. It'd be nice if it would load the hot cues into the sample banks, but hell, I'd take it simply loading the one under my finger on the app. Think of it as a smart needle search, only it snaps to a various rekordbox cue point or hot cue, sets it, and calls it a day. This would be very useful...
I hope DJ sounds are watching and I would like to recommend a video on the features of the aero.

Great job Jane.
Dear All,
I haven't updated yet... Can anyone share their thoughts on stability and performance of new firmware?
After playing music for a few hours are there any instability issues or hang ups? I'm using the Aero to mobile DJ and would hate to run into any glitches.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Jason,
Sadly with xmas and the crazyness that's gone with it I haven't had too much chance to work the app and firmware update so wouldn't want to say, but that night when the app and firmware was released back n the 18th (when I did the video) I worked on it from about 6pm til about 3am to be able to get it together and nail it down and I didn't notice any probs, tho I only used filter/echo XY combo.
I'm hoping to work on a new mix this weekend so hopefully will know more then.
And to paulo1976 - many many thanks for you're comments about my video - really appreciated and tbh tho I doubt I'd be asked by Pioneer for a demo, I would love to. I could even re-record the video to make it shorter, use more of the features and also avoid some of the tracks with the 'not worksafe' vocal samples :)
But honestly, thanks for checking it out and the feedback!
Hi Jason,
I played with it already quite a good time and I must say it's worth the update. Very stable and I've got the impression that the tracks are getting loaded much faster now too!
I have been using mine a week after the update was released with no issues.
I only have been using the iphone app sparingly but when I do it works fine. I thought I would be more into this feature but I don't really use it much at the moment.
All other functionality works as it did before and I have not had any issues.
Jane, Jeff, Jobushwick:
Thanks for the prompt responses! I am looking very much forward to updating the firmware now. I'm thinking this may come in handy when needing to load a song and begin playing it remotely (as an MC/DJ for an event) and to be able to manipulate the sound effects in a different manne when creating a mix etc.
Once more Thanks very much!
All we need now (hopefully in a future update) are:
-Hotcues
-Wave form display
-A better "Automix" feature (ONLY for Mobile DJing when one needs to walk away from ones DJ booth for background music- OF COURSE!)
-A designated HD iPad app with more available display features.
Looking forward to future commentary and discussions.
