[TICKETED] XDJ-R1 Freeze in 1.08ver

i have the new  update 1.08 for r1 and new years eve when i play in a party, i have 2 times Freeze in the midle of my session,

with this symptoms, ipad air- "now loading" in white background, and freeze R1 when i try to load mp3 in the deck.

You are advertise R1 as pro all in one choise and your product freeze every time i play.

 

What is the next step for pioneer in this huge problem??

Hey all,

I'm sorry that this took so long to be issued, but the engineers have released firmware version 1.13 for the XDJ-R1, which addresses the following issues:

  • Noise occurred when playing some tracks on a USB storage device.
  • Hot cue position was not on the beat position when it was called on rekordbox even if it was set on XDJ-R1 with QUANTIZE ON.

the R1 Freeze with no specific tracks and no specific time to play.

one more freeze happend to me in first 10 minutes playing.

the problem happents with searching in ipad for next song (i made  playlist  with recorbox)

 

then i play for 1:30 hour without recorbox analise tracks, without any problem.

Hey dude can i ask you a question on your R1 before it froze, did the time code on the screen of the track playing suddenly stop and then a few seconds later like a high pitched noise, cos i had a similar error hell my R1 i use 5 days a week, it started giving me problems and when i sent it in they told me that i had been abusing the unit, they actually used the word "abusing", but yeah curious to know what your R1 unit did before it freezes, cos at the same time i couldn't use cd's or anything id have to pull the plug and plug it back in  to the R1, and its f*ing embarressing especially when the club is packed, peak hour it died on me 3 times...

brent, i have 1 time problem with high pitched noise, and 4 times freeze after some sec playing a song in one deck and the other loading song from ipad.

pulse, yes i have ipad and hard disk western digital 500 gb fat32 in usb slot.

@John > Sorry, I meant was the iPad connected via USB, but obviously you have it connected by WiFi for USB browsing.

I have the same problem but it is in V1.09. And it says in the screen thathe is loading the usb while it was playing from it. So the music was stoped while the party... I had to turn my system off and on to get my music back...

Anyone with the same thing?

I've experienced this problem too, personally I think it's the components that the controller is made up of which is causing it, eg. USB reader, processors etc. pioneer need to act on this issue ASAP!

In your video you were not on the same wifi than the R1 ( you check r1 and the end of the video ), your freeze is normal because your iPad commut on an other wifi connection just before playing track.

For those of you experiencing this problem, please try going to your WiFi settings on your device and tap into any other wireless network that device has previously been associated with and FORGET the network. It could be a wireless issue where the tablet or phone is disconnecting and jumping to a network that you have previously used.

yes pulse,

the wifi disconnected from r1-net but first the r1 freeze in mp3 loading from ipad.

the other times, r1 freeze and the ipad showed "loading" with white page.

XDJ R1 DOES NOT FREEZE BECAUSE OF ANYHING BUT DESIGN FAULT!!! I have no ipad or itouch or i anything, my unit over the last 6 months has recently been sent in because its been freezing with high pitched noise, play buttons dont work, wireless has never worked, the bpm differences lol are rediculous, and i wanted a new one, took it in, and the shop i bought it refused, even though i had proof of liasing with the shops managers, here in cape town and jhb, and couldn't afford to hand it in for 2 or 3 weeks over season cos djing is my only source of  income, PIONEER's response was the unit was abused because the play buttons didn't wanna work, so i asked them about the freezing thing because I DON"T USE A LAPOP, OR IPAD, OR IPHONE, i use CD's and FLASHSTiCKS, because my wireless has never worked,  they wanted to charge me R3000 to rent a temporary R1 from them because i refused to take a controller that needs a laptop, so  in the end a mate of mine came in and made a deal saying he will buy another R1 and a RIG from the shop if they gave me a new one right now, their reply was that pioneer had fixed my unit and it will be back today (this was 2 weeks ago), so we bought the other R1 AND THE FIRST NIGHT I USE IT, THE FLIPPING UNIT FREEZES WITH A HIGH PITCHED NOISE, the search function where u hold shift and turn the jogwheel to go forward, some tracks it refused to even budge.... i'm starting to lose faith in pioneer, considering i've had everything from the ERGO, DDJ T1, AERO XDJ and now the R1.......... if anything the AERO is probably the most stable unit, so PIONEER i don't know how you're gonna explain the fact that a brand new unit out of the box and my unit are both having the same problems....

Hi guy's, I just want to say that I experienced a problem similar to those described above. In the last 2 months since I started to work with the R1 (15 gigs) I had two moments where the unit froze in the middle of a set, producing a loud siren-kind of noise. Yesterday this happened in the first 30 minutes of a 5 hour set. After restarting the unit I couldn't load a new song to the deck that froze. It give the 'deck is protected' warning. Only after I switched the deck protection off in the settings, I could load another track. Those are nerve-wracking moments! Hopefully Pioneer will recognize the problem and address it soon. We're all professionals and we rely on our equipment.

I use an iPad 3th gen and a Freecom 500GB mobile drive.

@John Makris: I meant the warning on your iPad when trying to load a track to an active deck (see screenshot). This can be set in the settings section of the Remotebox app. 

To all: Thus far people described the sound as a high pitch noise. Does anyone feel that it sounds like some sort of a siren? Almost as if it is an onboard effect. I'm just wondering if it is the same problem we're talking about.

@alexander, There are 2 cases.....

1....R1 just freeze

2....R1 freeze +  sound as a high pitch noise

both cases = random time.!!!

 ・Remotebox connected or not? 

  → If connected, type of iDevice, iOS version and Remotebox version 

 ・Where was your track when R1 froze or crashed? In CD or USB? 

 ・Which did you operate immediately before freeze or crash? XDJ-R1 or iDevice? 

 ・Did you play the tracks in a USB device? 

  → If your answer is “Yes”, we need the following information. 

  - Are the tracks analyzed by Rekordbox or not? 

  - What model of USB device did you use? 

  - When you exported the tracks in your computer to a USB device, did you use an Apple product or other products than Apple? 

   → If you used an Apple product, what is the version of the device (Mac, iPad, etc.) and OS version? 

-Did the freeze and crash occur with a specific USB device? 

Or does it occur with multiple USB devices?

 ・Where was your track when R1 froze or crashed? In CD or USB? - USB

 ・ Which did you operate immediately before freeze or crash? XDJ-R1 or iDevice? I went thru a playlist with the XDJ rotary selector, Stopped on a track hit the rotary selector, and hit it again to load the track to the deck (right deck) and it freezed.

 ・Did you play the tracks in a USB device? - Yes

  → If your answer is “Yes”, we need the following information. 

  - Are the tracks analyzed by Rekordbox or not? - Yes

  - What model of USB device did you use? - Sandisk cruzer fit 32GB.

   - When you exported the tracks in your computer to a USB device, did you use an Apple product or other products than Apple? - No

   → If you used an Apple product, what is the version of the device (Mac, iPad, etc.) and OS version? 

-Did the freeze and crash occur with a specific USB device? - No

Or does it occur with multiple USB devices? - Yes

Mine only crashes when I have Virtual DJ connected and in PC Mode, If I'm just using a combination of Remotebox and Cd's its fine, I'm guessing the processor is just too weak to handle everything going on.

i have ver 1.10 and virtual dj ver 8.0 and working very good both.

with ipad and remotebox i have many crushes with no reason.

i sell my new ipad air and lost 250$ and play with virtual dj with no problems.

thanks pioneer for very successful cooperation with apple.

Mine Crashed again while doing a gig 2 weeks ago, Luckily I had a backup Denon CD Player hooked up and ready to go in to the Venue Mixer, otherwise it would have been a Disaster, I exchanged my XDJ R-1 for a newer one because the first one was Faulty and kept crashing, now this one has started doing it as well, I run mine with the Ipad Mini and have tried all different Scenarios including using my Ipod touch as well,

It will run ok for the First couple of hours then it crashes, makes me wonder if the Processor is overheating after a while? it certainly isn't reliable at all,

I am seriously thinking moving to Numark,and buying their NV Controller, as this Pioneer unit is just not reliable enough to use anymore, overall I am very Disappointed with the product and wish I had moved Earlier :-(

Hey dude.... I have had 3 xdj r1's since October last year, each one having the same ridiculous issues as the last. I mentioned the fact that processor was overheating and they ignored me along with that I found after 4 months constant use if u manage to work around the issues of the freeze of doom which by the way Don't listen to Pulse because Pulse let's face it dude ure full of shit, u and pioneer, if I have to read how each time someone has an issue u blame it on a USB or a USB cable or wifi networks clashing causing the connection to someone's ipad to drop in the middle of a set, of the make of USB or operating system I feel like throwing up. Y u don't admit to the fact that ure R1s being a complete embarrassment to pioneer and apologise I don't know. After 4 months constant use each of the 3 R1's I have had I found ure sound quality drops from the unit *no its not the quality of my tracks*, the treble starts becoming increasingly louder, u find that the master volume u will have to start turning it higher and higher to get it loud enough,ull also find that the mixer itself starts to short out, like I find when I turn my headphones volume or press the filter effect it actually interferes with my left channel on the controller if I press noise or pitch my sound spikes into the red and it sounds like wiring is touching thru the speakers, also a new improvement to hi pitch freeze, it no longer does that, music simply becomes tinny, as in sounds like it's in a huge empty hall, best part is u no longer have control of anything, faders Don't work, volume, start stop nothing, simply sit back and count down till u know u have to pull the plug to reset the unit and everyone will look at u and think or scream wtf? It's been an entire year, I've given up asking y, but I follow this post and pulse gives the same bullshit answers all the time, btw I don't use pad or laptop, just cds and USB stick, and ver 1.10 firmware, I'm over trying to get pioneer to do anything because they can't, and if ure lucky enough to get get another, don't use it too often, because ull be abusing it they told me. LOL

pioneer should recall all the units, it was supposed to be their flagship an all in one, but it's there biggest screw up, and I hope people realise it before its too late, I have two units still, both same issues, nothing works like it should they always have firmware update fixing everything except what everyone is complaining about, because firmware can't fix what they know is wrong. U know I've looked online for the technicians service manuals u can find almost all of pioneers cdjs and mixers service manuals, but u won't a damp find one for the R1 y is that? Even record box, stupid software is changing random tunes names to Chinese what's up with that. Anyway good luck to everyone, I'd say look elsewhere for certain equipment

It is quite ridiculous that so many people are having these problems and yet nothing is being done about it. For such an expensive bit of equipment aswell.

I can't go through a night without the system cutting out at least 3 times.

It's getting to a point where it is starting to damage my reputation. Nobody else cares what is wrong with the system they just want music.

It's not even like I can throw on a CD as backup as I have to reset the whole unit. This also prevents me using the MIC.

I get a "loading" notification come up on my iPad mini, then the unit freezes and I have 10-15 seconds before the music cuts out and I have to reset the whole unit which takes 2-3 minutes to get back up and running.

Can anybody provide a solution?
