XDJ-RX 1st/start cue point over lapping issue

Hi, I've had the XDJ-RX for a month now and it has been great so far. I've had the odd issue where emergency loops have initiated and also freezing but these are rare. Recently I have been having another issue which I am going to try and describe. I always analyse all my tracks in rekordbox before exporting to usb. In rekordbox I set a cue point at the first beat of the bar for almost all tunes in my library. Anyway when using the XDJ and pressing play on a track from said pre-set 1st cue point I strangely get audio from a different unselected track which is out of sync, and then the track which should be playing will then kick in after approx 3-5 secs? This doesn't happen on any particular track as I have noticed it happen on several. Tonight when it happened I had been mixing for approx 2 hours and when it happened I stopped the usb, turned unit off and back on, reloaded the track and it happened again? All my tracks are downloaded from beatport, and analysed using MP3 val with no issue. My usb has been formatted using the app you have recommended to others on the forum. I am using firmware 1.6 but this also happened in 1.5. I hope I have explained this properly, but if you require further please let me know and I will be happy to help. Cheers, Craig

can u get it on video to show the engineers maybe? its easier for them to reproduce if they see exactly whats going on

the 2000's had a similar issue where it would play part of a previous track randomly as if the buffer didn't clear properly but it was fixed

Hi,

I've recorded 2 videos which I am trying to upload but they are taking an age to upload to the forum.  Is there an easier way?

I have left the first video uploading all night but this morning it has still not uploaded.

Cheers,

Craig

There is a max filesize on the forums of approx 20MB, we recommend using YouTube or a file sharing service to post links to larger files.

thats crazy, same issue the 2000's had when released. Crazy how these bugs follow to new players after they fixed in different models

I'm sure Pulse will pass this to the engineers to investigate

BriChi,

Thanks for your reply.

I have watched your video and yes it does appear that this is a similar problem to what you experienced on the 2000's.  I hope this can be solved in a future update.

Thanks for your help and advice.

Cheers,

Craig

@Craig > Thanks for the videos, passing those to the engineers for investigation. I know you've said you'd reformatted your USB drive and tried that but could you please try selecting all your tracks within rekordbox and re-analysing them all, then re-export to a freshly formatted USB device named DIFFERENTLY from any you have previously used?

@Craig > Additional questions for you:

How did you set the CUE?  Via Auto Cue? If you use Auto Cue, did you select Memory for auto cue or dB level? When Hot Cue is set, do you select autoload?

If you have any specific conditions before this issue occurs, please provide us with any information.

Pulse,

Thanks for your email.

This is the procedure I go through.

  1. Download track from Beatport

  2. Analyse track with mp3val

  3. Import track into Rekordbox

  4. Analyse track in Rekordbox

  5. Analyse key in Rekordbox

  6. Set Hot Cues in Rekordbox (Hot Cue A is always first beat of first bar, and I use the setting so that once the track is loaded to a deck it goes straight to Hot Cue A, but does not play).

  7. Export track/playlist to USB.

  8. Eject USB

  9. Play on XDJ-RX

I Hope this answers your questions.  If you require any further info please let me know as I am happy to assist.

Cheers,

Craig

I think they're more interested in the steps you take to actually SET the cue point while playing on the RX.

Sorry Pulse I think I've misunderstood. To answer the question correctly I have auto cue activated and have it set to memory.

I have the exact same problem. I recently did a firmware update (v 2.20) hoping this would resolve the issue but it didn't. Also, I'm sometimes unable to make a cuepoint. Whether using the cue-button or the 'loop in'-button. Both issues seem to occur at the same time, as if there is some kind of system overload or something going on... Was there ever a solution for the problem above?

Can you guys do something for me to see if it makes any difference -- grab a new USB drive, or even the same one, but after you format it, give it a completely unique name to anything you've ever used before. Re-export the same tracks and try and replicate it again.

Hey Pulse, thanks for the quick response. I'll try to do what you asked but the problem occurs rather randomly. It could occur in a certain song at one time and then, if I load the same song a minute later (without turning the device on and off or ejecting the usb) it might not occur. Also, I already use duplicate usb devices with different names and this thing happens when using either of them.

Another issue I'm having sometimes (again, randomly): A certain track is looped, but instead of playing this loop as it should, the device plays a part of the previously loaded song, only to switch to the current song in the second half of the loop.

Thanks again for your help, I'll let you know when and if I get the problem replicated.

Hey Pulse,

So, I did what you asked and put the same tracks on a different usb, but I still have similar problems. Most often the issue of not being able to make a cuepoint, which by the way is often solved by simply reloading the song. I'm now at the point where I'll contact my reseller, while the xdj is still within warranty. However, I suspect it is not a hardware issue, so if you have any solution for it I'd obviously still love to know.

Thanks!
