This is 100% normal; it's called "stutter cue" and it's how DJs used to cue CDs before the vinyl-mode was invented. The work-around is to use vinyl-mode only for cueing. If you don't want to accidentally scratch the audio if you were to grab the platter later, simply switch back to CDJ mode, then it can be used to pitch-bend.

フォローする[TICKETED] CDJ2000 Nexus Traktor 2.8 PLAY/PAUSE broken.
I'm trying Traktor for the 1st time, I have the latest demo version (2.8) but have a problem setting a Cue point in CDJ Mode.
Please check out my screen recording;
1st track is a new analyzed file, it plays. When I press PLAY/PAUSE again, it does a 1/4 loop. At this point Im spinning the platter as fast as I can to transport backwards to a previous marker, then some very fast forward spinning but very little happens.
The 2nd song I load has Cue points saved, now when I press PLAY/PAUSE, the only affect it has is turning on and off a loop between the 1st 2 saved Cue points.

Switching the Pioneer into VINYL mode, it works great. Scrolls back and fourth fine, sets the Cue on the marker, great!
After using CDJ's and controllers for 15 years a certain way, im too old and set in my ways to change my mixing style to VINYL mode.

So far, all other functions on the Pioneer deck seem to control Traktor fine in both VINYL and CDJ mode.
The CD player is plugged directly to the laptop via USB, no other hardware connected.
OSX Mavericks, latest Traktor and CDJ firmware etc.
Many thanks

Thanks so much for your fast reply Pulse, always appreciated :-)
I'm sorry to disagree with you;
I've owned or frequently played on Pioneer CMX-3000, CDJ800, CDJ450, CDJ1000 Mk1-Mk3, 2000, 2000NXS, 900NXS, DDJ-S1, DDJ-SX, also Numarks and Citronics in the early days which had VINYL modes, NONE of them behave like this.
Did you watch the 1st video till the end?
Whats with cycling a 32beat loop between markers if the track has Cue points saved and stutter looping if no Cue's are saved?
I guess this is a question for NI (who remain silent on the matter)
It would be a serious bug if not for the clumsy workaround.
I'm so disappointed, I was really excited about a 2000NXS with HID and Kontrol unit to take advantage of the new Stems file format.
I don't scratch, so why should I give up 90% of my jog wheel's surface?
I watched both videos all the way and didn't see what you were trying to explain about the looping. I'm assuming you did set the hardware controls properly to Advanced MIDI (HID) mode and then configured Traktor's hardware wizard with the CDJ-2000nexus?
I'm using the Nexus 2000's, so Advanced HID is no longer an option which needs to be set.
Ive tried plug n play, and the wizard. Tried the configurations with the 900Nexus mixer and the Kontrol X1. And gone through the whole preference menu.
Tried Traktor 2.6, 2.7 and 2.8 and 2 different drivers for the X1.
Here is a more simple video;
All I do is load the track, and press the Play/Pause button on the 2000NXS a few times.

Also the Snap function is broken;
In this video, I pause and cue with my mouse on the screen. Cue snaps to the beat.
Then I do the same on the 2000NXS buttons... oh dear!

@Tom > Are you in vinyl mode when that happens?
The videos are in CDJ Mode.
VINYL mode works fine.

Have you tried contacting NI about this issue? I'm not sure why it would be acting like that in CD mode (as if you were using timecode) when it's under HID control.
Sent a support ticket a week ago, asked on their support forum, emailed them, messaged on Facebook and Youtube... no replies.
So once again, thanks so much for your interest in helping Pulse!
@Tom > Glad we're a bit more responsive over here. ;)
Let me forward the info to the engineers as well to see if there's anything they might suggest.
I just tried Serato DJ in HID mode, all features work as expected in both CDJ and VINYL Jog Modes.
Ill let you know if I get a reply from ze Germans! :-)
Cool. I'll let you know if the Pioneer team has any answers.
@Tom > Sorry for the delay, finally got an answer for you.
The engineering team investigated the issue and it would appear that NI has configured their HID control of the CDJ to replicate the functionality of the CDJ when toggling between CD and vinyl mode. As I posted initially, the looping is a "stutter cue" to help adjust the cue point. If this is undesired function, we suggest you use vinyl mode to avoid this issue. Unfortunately it's an NI function within Traktor that Pioneer has no control over.
Hey there!
This issue right here is incredible!
Been having it since long time ago and it's the first time I ever see it posted, and if you take a look at the videos Tom posted earlier in the thread, they're all gone. Unless Tom itself deleted those videos I simply can't understand why Native is being like this on this issue...
Anyway, had a gig last week, couldn't try the setup before playing so now that Advance HID mode was finally out I decide to give it a try, and had the exact same issue again... But wait. This time, I continued trying while I was playing, and finally found the solution almost by accident. Again, every time I pressed play with a new track in CDJ mode it went into a 1/4 loop automatically, but in one opportunity I decided to resize the 1/4 active loop and setting it to a 8 beat loop, then taking off the 8 beat loop and finally pressing CUE and reloading the track and that was it! After that I did it with the other deck and the problem disappeared for the rest of my set!
At least I think it happened that way, as I mentioned, I was live and in front of a large audience, so once I solved it I kept going (after that I had problems with the pitch fader in traktor, that never matched perfectly between one track and another and had to continuously work both tracks for long time during the set, but that's another issue that I will post in another thread right now). Next time I use the same setup I will take note and post it here again correctly so that way we can maybe find a solution.
Hope this helps!
