Rekordbox Does not read Itunes 12.2 libraries folders

I heavily rely on the sync feature within rekordbox. I have my itunes organised in folders and playlists. the new itunes library format (exclusive to 12.2) does not recognise the folder structure and now it imports all music into one playlist. I can't roll the library back (for some reason it isn't in the old versions) so i need the rekordbox app to read ASAP!

Apple keeps changing how their program works, and when other applications have dependencies that get broken, those other applications won't operate as intended. Pioneer is working to address the issue, but these unforeseen changes sometimes take a while to be corrected. In the meantime, you could try downgrading your iTunes installation to 12.1.x.

Pioneer would like to thank you for your patience during this time and we will announce any information or updates as soon as it's available.

It is my professional opinion that working DJs should never adopt the latest ANYTHING until it has been proven that there are no conflicts or problems with everything else you need/use to do your job as a DJ.

So I have iTunes Match and I just setup recordbox on my 11.1 version iTunes and it works fine. All Mac users I would look at using time
Machine to get the old iTunes library File and then deleting the iTunes app via terminal and downloading 11.1. It worked for me but I didn't have an up to dat version of the file on my desktop

Hey Ben - thanks for chiming in on this man!
I'm not game to play around with the library file as I've lost playlists in the past messing around with it. Just hoping pioneer come up with a fix soon...!! :)

i feel that! just for reference the itunes library file from before you updated itunes should be in itunes>previous itunes library. what you could also do is temporarily replace it and launch rekordbox. this would atleast allow you to sync from that time if you haven't updated your USB in a few days/weeks :)

really hoping pioneer can help out asap though.

Same here. Rekordbox can not read the folder structure in iTunes, and only shows the main folders and shows no subfolders.

Same here, looks like a lot of people are experiencing this. Seems to be a pretty huge problem as a lot of people are organising through sub folders.

Freddie (or anyone else): Can you give me a quick rundown how you downgraded safely. I'm having the same major inconvenient issue, but scared to downgrade fearing i might lose ALL my data.

Thanks

Just upgraded to test this and I also have this issue. Rekordbox can not read playlist folders correctly from iTunes. Only way to fix this is a roll back as pulse has said. Moving playlists out of folders into the root also works temporarily if you do not want to downgrade iTunes.

Hey guys. I had this same problem and got really upset. I didn't want to mess with my iTunes library. After exploring a little, I was able to export my iTunes playlists and then import those into rekordbox. To do this, I highlighted the iTunes playlist in iTunes, choose File > Library > Export Playlist and then choose .m3u format. You can then go to Rekordbox click on File > Import > Import Playlist and choose the .m3u file you just created. Hop sit works for you :)

Blaming Apple is easy!

How do you explain that Traktor keeps seeing the subfolder in ITunes, although it hasn't yet been updated?

Don't you have advanced access to a dev release of iTunes? And anyway, how difficult can it be to fix a simple api exchange between rekordbox & iTunes?

In any case, why can't we sync in both directions? I keep having to reorganize my libraries simply because rekordbox cannot sync from my USB keys.

Hey brichi, glad you got yours working mate. Can you also see sub folders from iTunes as that is the trouble I am having and most others, no problem seeing playlists but RB doesn't display them correctly. RB just throws all sub folder tracks into one playlist. Share iTunes xml was ticked by default on my Mac and windows pc so this fix didn't help me. Checked with traktor, serato, VDJ and they can all read iTunes playlists correctly so it looks like a fix will only come via a RB update for those of us with this problem.

Made the mistake of upgrading to 12.2 before seeing the forum. Figures because I never upgrade anything for the first few months of a release or update. Weird thing is that I updated my iMac 27 (mid 2011), Macbook Pro 17" (early 2011) and my Macbook Pro 13" (mid 2012) all at the exact same time. All 3 running the same OS X (10.9.5), same version of Rekordbox (3.2.1) and iTunes (12.2). Except both my Macbook Pros can see all the playlists inside the folders from iTunes just like they always have been in previous versions of iTunes. Rekordbox still looks and works exactly as it always has. But my iMac can't see the iTunes folders anymore. Just turns them into a playlist with a small sprocket logo showing in the corner each playlist file. Not sure what the difference is but something is apparently different from my iMac to both of my Macbook Pros. Went through and checked every setting in iTunes and Rekordbox on both laptops and iMac and they are all identical. If Apple changed the way the playlists and/or folders are recognized, then why would Rekordbox work perfectly fine in my Macbook Pros and not the iMac when everything is identical? Must be something else, otherwise it wouldn't work on my laptops and not my desktop. Just need to find a fix for my iMac...

It isn't helpful? Because my Rekordbox is working makes my response not helpful? That's absurd. There's no need to say discourteous things because your outcome is different then others. I'm sitting here using my Rekordbox now on both of my laptops with iTunes 12.2. Works perfectly. It's only my iMac that is experiencing the same issue that everyone else is having. Just to make sure, I just reinstalled iTunes and Rekordbox again right now on my 13" Macbook Pro and when I open the iTunes playlists, folders and playlists are there. Works perfectly fine. So its not a "legacy" library.

The thread was done so that the techs from Pioneer could see that it could be some other type of compatibility problem and hopefully help speed up the trouble shooting processes they are going through so that they can get a fix for everyone, especially other DJ's who are constantly using it, like myself. I've been using Rekordbox since its first release and know what its like to have it not working correctly. If someone is not experiencing the same issues then its important for the techs to know. I'm trying help, not to take criticism from someone.
