Sorry to heard another people with a freezing XDJ-R1 why, Pulse, this XDJ-R1 are incredibly unstable? Take a look to youtube and other forums in the world, this consolle (and you should agreee with me) was born with some type of issue. In my opinion, Pioneer (like a car-company) should take all the R1 in her assistance and fix the problem for all. I suppose (but i am sure) that Pioneer knows the problem and can't be fixed with firmware upgrade. Maybe some component too hot? 2 years ago i got a XDJ-R1 and i noticied same type of freezing...
Same problem here. Running latest version 1.12 of course. I only use the XDJ-R1 for deejaying with CDs and USB on its own, no pc no mobile, wi-fi off. Sometimes it freezes while playing a CD, sometimes from USB, sometimes when one deck is playing and I'm browsing tracks on the other. Sometimes it happens after one hour of use, sometimes after four. Absolutely random. Will someone at Pioneer have the decency of telling us is this problem is being addressed or if we better stop having faith in the machine and trash it away? It's just unacceptable that a deejaying device supposed to be professional fails like this and after many enquiries by users still no solution and no clear, sincere answer abut it. Come on Pioneer, the machine was pretty expensive, let us know what the hell is going on!
@Nico > If it freezes with a CD, is it providing an error message onscreen?
Hi Pulse! No, no error display. It freezes the same way with CD or USB or just browsing. To me it's looks like a logical unit / processor problem, something that may occur when some part overheats, depending even on the general room temperature for occuring sooner or later? I have called an official Pioneer technical service here in Spain and they just say 'bring it here we know of that and it can be solved' but of course they'd cash A LOT for it as the machine is out of warwanty now.
Cheers to everyone,
I bought my xdj r1 in 2014 with fw ver. 1.09, immediatly I started having problems it. It really does a little bit of everything as Pioneer advertises but freezing while I'm at a gig cannot be tolerated. I updated the fw to 1.10 which supposedly would solve the problem but it didn't. The xdj r1 keeps freezing without warning both on cd and usb mode. It has nothing to do with tracks and there is no error on screen just this high pitched sound and the total emabrrasment that comes with it. I think that it is a processor problem too or at least something relative to the power supply that has something to do with the processor.. It had not happen for several months but I was djing on Friday and it happened twice, then played again on Saturday and everything magically was fine again. I've been reading the threads on these problems there has never been a straight answer from pioneer. It is so unbelievably devasting to not know If you're gonna get through the set without problems. I think I know the answer but here are my questions to Pioneer anyway, Will updating to fw.1.13 solve this problem or not and if not is there something i can do to fix this freezing problem that everyone is talking about?
Firmware 1.13 does not solve the problem. I opened a more recent thread commenting on this. Hopefully one day soon they'll be able to isolate the problem and give as a solution, either by software or hardware?
We have the engineers looking at this again as they're unable to reproduce the error. Any additional information you can provide as to what happens before you experience the sound will help.
