I am really excited about the concept of eliminating my laptop from my live performance. Reading these forums however it seems like there are some consistent flaws in this product... is this the majority or do most people consider the XDJ-RX a solid investment ?

It's as advertised. It's fantastic as a stand alone, the real
issues were from it being used as a controller with Rekordbox,
something it really wasn't designed, or intended to do.
It seems as though it can now do both really well.
I own one and would highly recommend it to anyone!
So the majority of issues were with it being used as a midi controller rather than a standalone using usb sticks ? Seems like many of the forum posts about problems were related to usb sticks and music files not staying in time with each other ... ?
You mean that slipping out of time "issue" which is related to xdj 1000 and reported by people who think that matching two tracks with .1 bpm accuracy will ensure minutes long mix without touching the jog...? If I were you I would ignore such issues as its only lack of knowledge and misunderstanding the concept...
Does anyone know if the Denon MCX8000 is all around better than the XDJ-RX?
Well all depends. Software wise rekordbox is way way better then engine! Am messing with engine an it's horrible. In my opinion. The loops are off u can't adjust nothing. An other things. So not sure if the unit will copy the software. And if it does that's going to suck. Mcx8000 has more to offer and it's great on price then the xdj rx. But rekordbox is pretty solid and it more on a pro level then denon engine. I was going to get the mcx8000. But can't deal with engine and not sure how long it will take to get on a pro level therefore I might just buy the xdj700 and stay with rekordbox
...and if nothing else, the MCX8000 DOESH HAVE THE COLORED WAVEFORMS.....!!!!!! :-)
The big PRO for the RX is the rekorbox ecosystem behind it making it very friendly with the cdj's all around. RX is a nice device.
CON is the pioneers attitude and lack of bringing new features.. the mcx does have a potential to be more upgaded with new features and its a fresh product.
I am not a biggest fan of the all in ony systems where you can't replace the part which is not enough for you (better mixer etc.) so I find getting the xdj700 as mentioned above very good choice.
I upgraded from Traktor S4 in Dec, amazing all in one unit.
Rekordbox was fairly easy to learn (still learning).
Cant beat the club style layout, its a sexy pice of hardware.
I find rekordbox for beat gridding and usb management far better than Traktor. Having the 2 waveforms stacked one above the other is great visual help. RX is a great piece of gear. It doesn't make coffee but what it does, it does extremely well. Don't read forums to judge gear.
That's why am getting the xdj 700. Cuz it make coffee! 😀
Already ordered the Denon DJ MCX8000. You can't beat the amount of features for the price of this thing, and the build quality seems great.

Im actually in between buying the RX and DDJ RZ, which would you recommend? I've got some great responses in another post and need maybe just a few more.

This is true.
But the the reason I am in between which one to get is because first off, the jogs are larger/2000nxs style. So many nice features it what's makes the decision hard. But yes, having a laptop is a big one. Decisions, decisions lol
