USB Problem: Corsair Survivor Stealth USB Drive 64GB [First Post]

Hi guys this is my first post here on the forums so I hope I'm posting this in the right place!

Basically I'm having a massive problem with my Corsair Flash Survivor Stealth 64GB.

I bought this at the very end of March and I haven't been able to use it at all since I bought it.. This is my issue:

When loading the USB onto my Pioneer XDJ-1000's no Rekordbox Database is loading. All of my tracks are on the USB stick because I can load them through browsing through the contents folder, to the artists and than the track itself. Which is completely useless for me.. so I have no playlists, artist information, or other rekordbox information coming up when I insert the USB into either of my XDJ's (It also takes a long time for the XDJ's to recognise the USB). I've never had a problem with my previous USB stick (Kingston 32GB) I just load up the playlists through Rekordbox and bam it loads on the XDJ's just fine! But this Corsair USB is causing nothing but problems and hasn't worked at all yet..

So what I've done so far:
- Made sure that both XDJ-1000's are updated to the latest Firmware.
- Double formatted the USB on Windows to FAT32.
- Formatted the USB on Mac to FAT32.
- Formatted the USB on both Windows and Mac using an external piece of software to FAT32.
- Formatted the USB as to FAT32 using MBR (Master Boot Record).
- Tried transferring the playlists on both Rekordbox version 3 AND 4.
- Tried transferring one playlist at a time (maximum of 900 tracks at a time) just incase the USB would not let me transfer so many at one time.

After doing all of this the USB will not longer be recognised when I plug it into my Windows PC but recognises it on my MacBook Pro.

I'm massively stuck here guys I feel like I've tried everything to get this thing to work! I can't even return it or ask for a replacement since it's been like 2 months

So I'm just asking does anybody have any other suggestions for me to help out here? Because I'm all out of ideas and any help would be massively appreciated!

PS - My equipment I'm using if it helps is:
Macbook Pro 2013 Edition
Zoostorm Windows PC
Pioneer XDJ-1000's & DJM-900 Mixer
Corsair Flash Survivor Stealth 64GB
Kingston Flash USB 32GB

No, there is, nor will there be, a solution from Pioneer DJ - the issue is with the memory control chip used in those drives. The issue is mainly with the 32GB model drives, but other capacities seem to also exhibit this problem from time to time.

Bottom line is we do not recommend Corsair Survivor drives, other Corsair drives (eg. the GTX) seem to work without issue in our testing.

I seem to recall that the Corsair Survivor drives have been a sore spot for some users. I've ordered one to see if we can replicate the issues here with that drive.

I was able to reproduce the issue with that same drive, which has since been sent to the product team in Japan for investigation. This issue does seem to be limited to specific USB drives; I had no problem with a variety of other make/model USB drives. Do you experience the same problem with your Kingston drive?

Does it has something to do with the new corsair? I have older ones that work ok.

Hi Pulse sorry for taking so long to reply. I did not get any notifications for this. No I don't experience any problems with the Kingston Drive and never have it's always worked fine! I have a feeling it may be the Corsair Drive itself because I still don't have a fix for it :(

@Liam > Thanks - the engineers have since replicated the issue with the Corsair Survivor series drives and are working to find a resolution for it. I'll let you know if / when I hear of any progress. There are a few users waiting on this info!

Hi, I have 2 Corsair 128GB USB drives and have the following problems.

- Drives are not recognized bij the XDJ-RX.
- Transferring tracks and playlists to the drives takes hours (1800 songs in about 7 hours right now...)
- While synchronizing rekordbox is very slow and unusable, I don't have this problem with other USB's

I have formatted the drives in all the possible ways but without results. After transferring all my tracks and playlists the drives are usable on the nxs but the workaround is unworkable as you imagine...

Hope to see an update on this

@Dennis > Corsair Survivor drives are known to have issues with Pioneer DJ products. Please try using another make / model of USB drive.

I had the same issue and after several attempts

I solved by formatting my Corsair in Mac Os extended (journaled) and now it works!

Tested on XDJ-1000 and CDJ-2000

I will try asap on 2000NXS both 1 and 2

@An Sant: I've tried Extended (Journaled) with the Corsair Survivor 32GB 3.0 on the 2000NXS and it doesn't work.

Weirdly enough, non of the 32GB Corsair flash drives seem to work. The 16GB 3.0 does work however

Still no solution from Pioneer??

I bought 2x64Gb Survivor Stealth (which are not cheap) on the basis they are designed for DJ use - how therefore are they not working properly? Mine fail to load all the time on the entire range of CDJs. Basically they are unusable. Is there any sort of fix yet does anyone know?

I have the same problem, is there already a solution?  It doesn't work great with the nexus 2 players.

Yes please. I read in another thread that there are known problems with sandisk too (which are not mentioned in the manual or on the pioneer homepage btw) now trying a corsair.

The SanDisk Extreme Pro is fine, I do not recommend other SanDisk models.

As for Corsair, yes, the Survivor and Survivor Stealth models can be problematic in some players, so we don't recommend those models, but the Corsair GTX is a fantastic drive and performs flawlessly as one of the fastest on the market today.

@Jose > Sorry, we can't guarantee performance with the Corsair Survivor series as we have previously identified communication issues with those units. Some users have had no problems with those in CDJs but experienced problems with XDJs, some have no problems in either, and some have problems in both.

You could try reformatting to the opposite of what you're currently using (FAT32 or HFS+) and see if that resolves the issue for you, but again, we can't promise it will work.

Hola,,

NO...  CUANDO LA SOLUCION....

Hello everyone, I'll be brief because I've had exactly the same problem since when I bought my Corsair Survivor Stealth 32gb 1 year ago. I tested on several pioneer equipment and got the same problem. And to make matters worse I can no longer open the pendrive or the computer.
No update news? Will I ever be able to use my Corsair Survivor Stealth on the pioneer equipment again, or can I lose my hopes?

Unfortunately I have tried everything that is possible.
I already tested on CDJ and XDJ and got the same problem.

In which case, you'll have to use a different USB drive. The only two drives I recommend are the Corsair Voyager GTX 3.0 and the SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.1.

After discovering this thread I went to my local music store and test the Survivor Stealth (128 GB) on several CDJs and DDJs. No issues with my FAT32 formatted stick.

Purchased in 2016.

@Ves > As I mentioned, there are DJs who have used them with CDJs and never had issues, but the XDJ is almost certainly going to reject it. If you're not having any problems, fantastic! But I still won't recommend it to our users for use with Pioneer DJ products to avoid any potential problems.

Should have added that I tested them on XDJ's as well without issues.

Agree that if there is a confirmed problem they shouldn't be a first choice for DJs despite music stores/websites recommending them.

Hi everyone, I just got a Corsair Survivor Stealth 256gb USB stick and after not finding any help online on how to get it to work. I uploaded mp3's via RB and my XDJ 1000, didn't read the stick. So, I decided to look and see what files i had on an old USB stick vs. the new Corsair stick. I formatted my stick 5 times and got nowhere. Then I realized that RB was writing the content file, but it wasn't writing the PIONEER file. So I copied the PIONEER file from my old USB stick on to my new Corsair USB stick and it saw the database. I created playlists and added files to the stealth stick, took it out and popped it in the XDJ and IT WORKED!!! I hope this helps some of you out there!
