Audio Drop-out before Echo

I wonder if you can assist. I am new to the Pioneer arena as I have been a Traktor DJ for a good many years. I find the effects on the XDJ-RX a little difficult to get my head round. One of the issues I am have is creating a 'post-fader' echo stop using the echo effect on a half beat. I have been doing this by pressing the activation button and dropping the fader. I have found that when pressing the button the audio drops out for a second before the echo comes in. This can't be correct??? Please inform me of how this can be done as I in the past user a very effective DJ TechTools mapping for Traktor that created a echo stop in one button.

Where do you have the effect level/depth knob pointed?

Do you mean the 'Wet/Dry' dial? Then that will be half way.

The echo is cutting out the dry audio for the length of the beat when the mix is mid-way? That's not right... can you do me a favour and shoot a video of this with the knob at dry, 12 and all the way wet?
