A suggestion for backups

I know the response to this will be "backup regularly" and I do, However, I have a flash drive full of about 1000 tracks that I analyzed wayyy back when and have since done a lot of relocating/management on my computer. As a result, rekordbox can read my flash drive and I can explore the tracks just fine from previous exports, but the exported tracks are no longer attributed to the tracks in my collection. So if I try to "update collection" it does not work, and i cannot re-export those files with their grid information to another drive.

So I am stuck with this flash drive that has all my meticulously gridded and cued tracks, and then a new flash drive.

I would love in the future to be able to import tracks from foreign flash drives in case of loss of collection.

Thanks for listening to my thoughts!

@Christian > Are the files on your old USB stick still in your computer?  If so, just locate them in rekordbox and export them to a new USB stick.  Basically, you're manually duplicating the old USB to a new USB but with the updated details.

@Pulse I still have all the files, yes, but I'm not sure if something in the metadata has changed or what, but even if I directly copy the files from the flash drive into collection, let it analyze them, then copy the actual files onto my local hard drive and relocate those files on the hard drive, it will still not update collection with the grid information and cue points that are on the drive.

It also will not work if I directly drag the files in windows explorer into rekrodbox collection and try to update it.

Is it even possible to update collection once files have been removed from the collection? Of course I mean after you re-add them to the collection

First... I'm Mark, not Pulse ;)

Second... If the files are still in your rekordbox collection, why do need to drag them from the USB stick back to rekordbox?  This will only create an additional copy of the file but without any of the hot cues, etc.

IF the data was still in rekordbox, even if the files were missing, you could copy the USB audio files back into your computer, then use the relocate tool for EACH song (as the mass-relocation feature would not work for you in this case), and then the collection would at least be working again.
