Currently, video files cannot be placed in audio playlists. This issues has been brought to the attention of our engineers and we hope to have it resolved in future update. Thank you.
When viewing my iTunes playlists in rekordbox, only the audio files are showing in the playlists. All my music video files are NOT being displayed in the playlist.
I am using the full paid version of rekordbox with and considering switching over from serato.
Do I need to purchase the rekordbox video plug in for videos to be displayed in the playlists? I am already running the trial 30 day version of the rekordbox video.
I manually added a video into my Collection in rekordbox. When I create an intelligent playlist, this video is not automatically showing up and being added into the intelligent playlist.
Why don't any videos show up in playlists?

I am urgently looking for a response. Any help?
The video's should show up in the Video's playlist in performance mode.... You have to make seperate video playlists I believe..
Yes, I discovered that Bern. I don't want separate video playlists. I want mixed playlists!
If this is the case and this is the only way of viewing video playlists... then this is a terrible design flaw.
Serato DJ can view playlist content exactly as you would in iTunes. Audio and Video files within the same playlists! Why can't this be the same!
There is no way of creating intelligent video playlists either... not so intelligent Pioneer! :@
This software is not VDJ friendly!
I submitted a tech request asking for this a few months ago as it definietly has been an issue for me as well using smart playlists and stuff for videos. It's been really awkward having to drag stuff in from itunes so great news to hear it's being fixed, cheers Mark :D
the same problem! :-(
i have the same problem too :(
i wait everyday for a update :-/
Dear friends. I'm migrating my work Serato for Rekordbox since bought the DDJ-RzX controller. For now is working fine, I'm having a great difficulty in the playlist, can not in any way put in the same playlist music and video files. This is discouraging as Serato allows this since I'm not going to stay for another playlist to perform my job. For time I want to play music and other video clip. This will be fixed? Is there any way to put in the same playlist of audio and video files? Awaiting return. thank you!
I am in the same boat I need this fix now. I work for some of this biggest venues in the world and this is making me want to sell my DDJ-RZX and go back to Serato DJ. Please make this now!! Your old versions did not have this problem 4.0.5!!
How's this one going? There's been a few updates since! I know the problem came from when iTunes did that horrible update but Serato can still bridge video from iTunes so it definitely is possible. Would immensely improve my workflow too!!
It's still on the list for a future update.
Great news cheers so much Pulse :-)
Are they going to fix this at some point? Until then I can not stop using serato dj because I can not build the lists in Rekordbox Dj.
You sure could, just not through iTunes.
As I said above, it's on the list for future updates, but I don't have a timeline, sorry.
I just purchased an DDJ-RZX. I was very excited to get my hands on this so called "Fladship" controller. I'm usually a Serato DJ user, but I may return my hardware and switch back to my DDJ-SZ for Serato (Which I currently still own). I'd like to have the DDJ-SZ2 if I can still use videos within my iTunes playlists mixed with other audio files as well. I do not have the time to switch between software and create new "playlists" geared only for Rekordbox. This is a huge blow to those of us whom play out with videos and audio files. Please let us know if your developers will even consider this or not. Thank you!
@James > I understand your frustration, however as previously noted, this is not currently possible but will be included in a future update.
The reason this limitation exists is that videos can not be converted / exported for use with our hardware products (eg. CDJ / XDJ) and as such, having videos combined with audio playlists could result in users expecting to have those items exported, when they can't be played on those devices.
Then all you have to do is make it a option you have to turn on in the config. problem solved
I wish it were that simple, @events, or they would have done it by now.
Why can we not have a separate release for just the DDJ series Rekordbox controllers? CDJs and XDJs are not my concern or problem.
Patience, young grasshopper!
so.... still no solution for the video library integration. will this be fixed on 5? this is the only reason i haven't switched over yet. all my crates will be lost.
I mean seriously.... algoriddim even has this figured out. why is it taking you all so long?
I too have been racing to the update notes on every new release hoping this will be included as having to jump between iTunes and Rekordbox is a pain in the bum when I want to be more hardware and less laptop focused. I can't see it in the notes for the current beta test on 5 unfort so wouldn't get your hopes up yet.
As Pulse said above the difference between Rekordbox and Serato / Algoriddim's DJ Pro is Rekordbox has a library shared with an export to thumbdrive function. Reading between the lines, export mode is still probably the most important part of Rekordbox for the biggest number of users so a very dangerous area to fuck up by rushing something through. Imagine the outrage if an update brought glitches for people exporting stuff on thumbdrives haha. Think how many touring DJs use the software daily! So I guess the challenge lies in writing really solid coding which would differentiate what files can or cannot be exported to a thumbdrive. Much like iTunes smart playlists which are really the bomb for organising your library and after years of building to perfection, I like most of us here don't want to spend days and days migrating - especially when down the line we can link into other software (as I did when I left Traktor for thumbdrives)
So hopefully it doesn't take too long to sort but who knows? Another solution: Maybe Pioneer could hurry up with the next gen players which will play MP4s and allow video djing without a laptop, then it won't matter what gets exported onto the thumbdrives ;-) - wishful thinking haha. Would definitely show the new Denon players where to stick it if that's where you guys are heading as I sincerely hope looking at the flagship video controller as a toe in the water type model.
@sage > Algoridim doesn't EXPORT to a USB device to be used with a CDJ!
Thanks.
@pioneer > neither do I or 98% of the dj population. However, most people do use music videos. I also don't understand why rb is making a distinction between music & videos. Like a lot of people this issue will keep me from rb. You are pandering to a very small group of flash drive/cdj dj's who have a prepaired set instead of playing to the crowd. I have 2tb of videos I carry with me to every show. It may sound like a lot but it's nothing compaired to the crates I used to carry back in the day.
PS. Why do cdj's still exist? No one carries around cd's & your controllers are are built exactly the same way with more features.
@sage > Sorry, but your numbers are skewed - more DJs play audio only than play video. We're not "pandering" to anyone.
If you have to ask why CDJs still exist, this only shows you don't understand just how many of them are out there vs. DDJs.
I know that you are still selling obsolete technology when you should have abandoned cdj's 8 years ago for one of your flagship controllers. The percentage of flash drive dj's is trivial. However, everyone needs their library & crates. Why does rb just ignore videos? It doesn't make sence? They are in the same playlist as music. You offer a video plugin but not video library integration. Why? How does the precious flash stick change that? And... if you guys are so passionate about your cdj's those guys don't need a flash drive. They can burn a cd ;)
@sage > I appreciate your feedback regarding the video integration, however your knowledge of the industry is lacking.
You're right. CD's are the hot new trend. Hey maybe you can bring back 8 tracks & make a VCR for music videos.
Look. Serato has been annoying everyone for a while but there is no alternative. If someone came along with a solid product a lot of dj's would leave serato. Allowing people to use any audio interface is a great start. But without library integration a lot of people like myself can't make the switch even though we'd like to. Help us Obi Wan!
Like I said above ... patience! Give the beta a whirl - while it doesn't have the ability to do mixed media playlists (yet), you'll already see some major performance improvements have been made.
