is it possible to audition a sample on the sample page before assigning it to a pad? i may be missing something here but i have not found a way to listen to the sample i have recorded without saving and replacing.

I have also recorded many samples and I;m able to audition them with no problem. Before jumping to conclusion of a faulty unit I would recommend waiting for the new firmware update that will be out soon. Maybe this will take care of your issue.

Yes just push down on the rotary
so i just recorded some synth straight into the toraiz,i set the threshold to -48 db rec length to 2 bars and after hitting record and sampling a line i cannot find a way to audition the sample before "saving and replacing" in the "save changes" page .. pushing the rotary knob does nothing .. is my machine faulty?
I am not with my Toraiz at the moment, but AFAIR, when you are in the sampling section, I think you need to be in the edit screen (one of the options on the left hand side on the touchscreen) and then push down on the rotary in order to preview what you recorded. There is definitely a way to do it, I have done it.
I just checked it at home. You just need to be in the Home>Track Menu>Sampling/Edit screen (which you should be in if you have just sampled something), and just press the rotary - I can audition what I have just recorded.
after i have sampled a sound all it does when i push the rotary knob is DESELECT (turns the words and numbers from white to dark grey) the "selection start" and the "selection end" values above the 4th and 5th knob below the touch screen. the rotary works fine for everything else but it definitely does not audition the sample after i have recorded it on the sampling/edit page.
Sounds like you have a bug l have recorded around 50 samples and have had no problem auditioning them. You may want to send this to support.
