My DDJ-SB2 is not connecting to my macbook air

Hey I just purchased my DDJ-SB2 when I first plug it in the lights turn on but then my computer and serato just doesn't see it. I saw that this problem is very common and tried most of the things that were written up tot the forums but nope.. Please help me

Are you using Serato DJ?

DDJ-SB2 supports "Serato DJ Intro".

I'm using intro, but my computer doesn't see it as an external source which is the main problem to start with

Is your Mac OS 10.9?
