Sorry, this is entirely up to NI and they have no interest in providing HID support for them.
Well, the title it's a bit strong but I'm so upset right now that i'm on the verge of selling everything i ever owned from Pioneer!!
I know HID support for Traktor was never promised for the MK2s.. But cmon guys! I bought a pair in good faith as most(if not all) of your newest players supports HID mode in Traktor. It sounds like you purposely lockdown HID on the MK2s just to have an edge on the competition and gain market share..
Look I don't like rekordbox. I can't stand stacked waveforms. So please let me use the software i want with it. Will you ever allow NI to support HID? If yes when(ballpark is fine).
Thank you

Thank you Pulse for your honest and straightforward answer. So is not true that Pioneer 'removed' HID support from the MK2s? Why would they say something like this if isn't the case? There are a lot of people that want this feature.. Can you possibly work this out with them?
@Brian > They work in HID mode with rekordbox...
Sorry, it's a long and complicated relationship between NI and Pioneer DJ, and I don't expect that to change anytime soon to provide HID support.
Yes I know that. I think RB is great but I really don't like stacked waveform. Any plans to make them separate(left and right side of the screen) in the near future?
Oh an regarding your relationship with NI I think you should think to the customer best interest first. Pioneer hardware is the industry standard, no question about that. But software wise Traktor is still on top, at least in the house/Techno crowd. If you set your difference aside and work together to deliver the best of both world everybody wins.
@Brian > It's not as simple as that - not everyone wins with the complex relationships between competing companies.
There are currently no plans to provide additional views, however I would suggest you post that as a request to the Product Suggestions forum.
Hello Pulse a thanks again for answering. I'm sorry but I have to disagree. NI doesn't have anything with jogs these days so it would benefit them to add HID support for the newest XDJs. And also Pioneer would benefit from that. Obviously it was my mistake, but I would never have bought the XDJs(and a 750MK2 mixer) if didn't believe Traktor support would come at some point. Not working together to some extent will damage both companies in the long run.
btw serato also provides no hid support for the mk2 and will not do this in next versions ;-)
@Brian > As you can see from @Daniel's post, neither Native Instruments nor Serato are interested in spending the time / money / resources on adding HID support when we are now a competitor with rekordbox.
As I said above, it's up to them and I sincerely doubt it's going to happen, even if it's in their interest to gain software users.
Hey Pulse,
I appreciate the honesty. Native Instruments of course blamed the lack of HID support on you guys, but looks like is not the case. Basically i have suck it up and sell the players. I guess i'll be more careful next time.. Such a shame because i really love the XDJ hardware!
I will keep the mixer though, it's amazing and work perfectly with Traktor
Brian we can exchange mk2s for mk1s, which works perfectly with traktor =))
everyone who wants to use these babies as dumb hid controllers only can easily pick up a used/cheap pair of mk1s. you have absolutely NO improvements in comparison to use a mk2 as a hid Controller. it's cheaper :-)
Well, to be fair i bought the mk2s to use them both as a Traktor controller and standalone. I was sure(i recon- big mistake on my part) NI was going to add support at some point.
I mean they already have HID for the 900, Nexus AND the the original XDJ1000. If they were so competitive toward pioneer why would hey went through all this trouble to support their entire range- minus one of course:)? Besides, Rekordbox didn't become competitive overnight. It was already competitive when Traktor 2.11 was released(HID support for the Nexus 2). It makes no sense whatsoever.
Finally, I don't think that adding support for a player that is almost identical to is predecessor, would consume a lot time/money/resources..
I want to get to the bottom of this before i sell my gear. I will ask NI and see what they have to say.
I'm fairly certain they'll tell you that it's up to us.
He-said, she-said. ;)
Yeah lol, they probably will. Pulse, one last question. I've heard on their forums the fairytale about Pioneer 'disabling' HID support for 3rd party software.. Is it even possible to do that or is just a lame excuse? Does NI need your help to do the HID mapping or they can do it all by themselves?
Thanks, your input is much appreciated!
Could well be, but I don't have that information, so it would be pure speculation.
the thing is pio changed the way hid is accessible with the xdj mk2 and the cdj nxs2. Otherwise than on previous models hid is blocked by default. you need to get a license for accessing/unlocking the hid(api).
the problem for serato and ni was initially that pio only would unlock hid officially when implementing kuvo in their software. they had a hard time to convince pio to give them hid without implementing kuvo but finally they got the nxs2 working in hid mode.
vdj got it managed (like always) to reverse/hack this mechanism by themself so they were the first ones with working full hid.
you see it's not that easy for the other sw vendors to get access to it :-)
Hi Daniel,
Thank you for the very detailed answer. So Pioneer didn't removed HID support.. They just changed the guidelines on how it can be implemented? Mmmmmm, if the Kuvo thing is accurate no wonder why NI is reluctant. Still, they added support for NXS 2..
@Pulse I'm disappointed if the kuvo comment is true.
why disappointed? its up to the vendors decision to implement it or not :-) you can't blame pioneer for that. but as you see with the nxs2 Integration they dealed it somehow without kuvo. but this was the reason why it took so Long for getting nxs2 hid Support.
it's also up to the vendors to implement it the way vdj did - just hack the shit out of it and simply implement it.
