Could some one please save the day with my XDJ1000 issue on MAC

Basically I own Serato pro and I have a free trial for rekord box Dj,

I load serato or rekord, once its loaded i then plug Both my XDJ1000'S with DJM 750 Mixer into an Advent usb hub then into my mac.

All is great till i press link on the decks then "PUSH TO CONNECT" As to which i do, Then nothing changes. Still the same picture of a Deck connected to a Laptop in black. No option to scroll through music on the mac or select which deck to load.

My firmware is all up to date (ver 1.13), Mac is all updated now as well (OS X EI Capitan) ver 10.11.6.

Both my decks have also been Aggregated on my mac.

My buffer is on 5 as well,

Ive literally tried anything and I'm slowly loosing out on options now.. only so much internet crawling you can do in a day.

would seriously appreciate some advice as pioneer haven't replied back to me.. I'm fresh into this music game so I'm still learning at the moment,

Cheers in advance!

I don't own XDJ1000's but they way you have them connected via USB sounds a bit strange to me. Are you trying to use both decks and the mixer as midi controllers to control the DJ software on your laptop or do you just want to play the files stored on your laptop?

Have you tried any of the setups in the manual with LAN and audio cables yet?

What version of XDJ1000's are they (original or mk2)?

Thanks for getting back to me,

yes I'm trying to play my decks through the software in order to record mix's, Audacity was a bit of a nightmare for me to be honest.

originally i had a pioneer controller working with with serato then i upgraded to the XDJ'S. Would rather not waste the full software for another one that might just do the same problem.

No i haven't, i did hear something to do with a LAN setup ill have a look now and see whats recommended.

The xj1000's are the original version.

Ah I see, its the record function you really want.

Looks like this guy has it setup the way you want. When he links the players he seems to press the dial in twice and then rotate it to bring up a menu....

Hopefully there's someone on the forum who's setup HID mode that can chip in.

@Rhys > Are you ONLY wanting to record? Are you playing from the XDJs in stand-alone mode, or do you want to play from the software as well?

Yes i would like  to record my mixes from my decks through either serato pro or rekord box dj.

When i have either of those 2 softwares running with the decks plugged in via Usbs nothing comes up or changes when connection is made.

Theres no record option on serato pro nor performance mode on record Dj.

Playing from the software is something that i would like to know, I probably won't but its just nice to know i have the option.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, both Serato DJ Pro and rekordbox dj have recording options, but how they work depends on your mixer. Unfortunately the DJM-750 doesn't have an audio interface, and the XDJs don't have audio inputs, so unless you're mixing internally on rekordbox, no - you can't really record your mix. In your case, you'd have to use a second audio interface to record back in from the mixer's master / recording output.

Ok i think understand, Apologies for not being very switched on with all this.

I have found an old interface kicking about, I can record into rekord box but only for 3 min as its due to (trial mode)

I still don't understand how the virtual decks don't pop up on serato when the XDJ's/mixer are connected to the mac? Is that  because the DJM 750 isn't compatible right?

Also Rekord box dj.. is that because its a trial ?

I was just lead to believe that once your XDJ's/mixer are connected to the mac they could be used like a controller for instance through chosen software?

The DJM-750 does have an audio interface. You can use the DJM setting utility to route REC OUT into an unused channel, and then select that channel in Rekordbox Preferences > Audio > Input Record. No need to connect the XDJs to your Mac.

Recording is part of the free version of Rekordbox, so not sure why it would stop after 3 minutes.

Rekordbox might limit to 3 hours. Can you please check if it is 3 min or 3 hours?

@Ryhs > My bad, @Erik was correct - I was going from memory! Too many products to keep track of. ;)

Yes, you could configure the DJM-750 as your audio device, send the audio to there from rekordbox as the output, and then use the REC OUT as the recording input source.

Problem solved!

No worries mate lol

Will give it all ago again in a minute, I did speak to serato and my mixer isn't supported apparently so i might just buy the full software of rekord box now.

Cheers everyone for your feed back, MUCH appreciated ! !

If you don't plan on using rekordbox for DJing, you could record into Audacity -- it's free!
