Library backup

If I started with say 12k files in my library and have moved that down to 6k by deleting from my collection if was to back up my library to a different hard drive would it just take what is remaining in my collection at the time? And then would the new hard drive be recognized just like the old one was? My old hard drive has the music in a ton of different folders as well so would it be the same on the backed up one also?

A backup only takes what's in your collection, not what was removed.

When you backup your database, you're asked if you also want to back-up the audio; if you say yes, then only the audio that's in the library is taken along - any other music is left behind.

Thank you, that's what I'm looking to do so I can get rid of the files I don't want then then restart my collection.
