RB6 Hardware memory unlock licence

HI,

I got a DDJ RX + Interface 2

It's a pity to have to connect my interface 2 just as a dongle, to use the DVS from the RX.

Of course I preferred the RB5 licence system, but if ever it doesn't change, it should be nice to, at least, get a kind of "memory system" in the software, so as RB knows what you own and allows you to use the soft whatever the hard which is connected. And, let's say every month, the soft ask you to connect this or this to verify you still got the piece of hardware you're supposed to have.

I understand why you're asking, but unfortunately that would also allow a group of users to share one piece of hardware to unlock the functions for all of them.

I get why you guys went to a subscription based model.  It helps pays the ongoing development of the software.  Serato did the hardware based activation long before you guys did and were successful.

I think the major complaint is that there wasn't a great upgrade plan that didn't leave the existing community feeling a bit burned.  Major revisions deserve to be paid for, but maybe a paid upgrade fee of something like 50 bucks for a permanent unlock of basic DVS and performance transport features with XDJ/CDJ with pioneer mixers (900nxs2, 2000, v10) (something a little more than the standard link mode that's already included).  I've spent thousands in pioneer dj hardware and it's kind of a bummer to have to subscribe to use any new stability improvements with Rekordbox 6, or go back to using my DDJ-RX.

Now, for folks using advanced lighting, VJ, etc. That I totally understand should be under your paid plans for the amount of developing that goes on.  Users of these features are going to be more than just the standard hobbyist, based on commercial usage, etc.  People who want cloud sync features are also great for paid program candidates as cloud providers change all the time, so it requires development needs to ensure that things stay working.

Hopefully your product team considers maybe a basic pro license that sits between your paid plans and free tier, or even just allowing basic performance operations that are similar to link mode for free for qualified pioneer dj players/mixers.

Hey Miztah,

Thanks for the feedback - you're not the first to bring this up and we hope our business team has considered the comments provided.

I totally agree with the original post.  It's not reasonable to expect users to lug around a hardware key the size of an XP1 in my case to a coffee shop or on a plane to prep. I really appreciate that you made the hardware key an option but there must be a verification system that will meet everyones needs. Adobe, Amazon, Apple etc all do it.
