DJM 500 with powered speakers?

I’d like to use a pair of M-Audio BX8-D2 speakers with my old DJM 500, can I just plug them into the XLR and have at it? https://m-audio.com/products/view/bx8-d2

Hey Rick.

It is important to note that the DJM-500 has a quirky XLR output pin configuration:

The HOT and COLD are reversed; you will want to create a custom cable to accommodate for this, or use only the RCA outputs for your speakers.

What about a later model mixer? DJM600 maybe? Is it the same thing?

No - they converted to the standard after that model, so any regular XLR cable would work.
