If you're running the PLX output directly to the speakers, you'll need to ensure you're using the LINE output mode:

フォローするPoor audio quality on the PLX 500
I just bought a Pioneer PLX 500 turntable and my choice was mostly due to its aesthetical features. But I also have some Pioneer SDJ 05W amplified speakers that I purchased a couple years ago and have been using for streaming audio, mainly. Now, I thought these two components could get along quite well and connected my speakers to the turtable's cables (RCA). The result was quite a bit disapppointing,: I could hear the sound coming out of the speakers, but it was low, not well defined and -in a word- inadequate. My question is: why is the output so low, even though it does have a pre-phono out? The speakers are ok, whatever source I use with them. What should I do? Should I get a pre-amp to boost the signal?

Yes, of course I did. I switched to Line before using the turtable, then connected it to my amplified speakers Pioneer S-DJ05 through RCA cables. But as I said, the output signal is quite low and overall poor. Whereas, if I use the speakers connected to everything else (PC, CD, iPAD, Chromecast) the sound comes out stronger and much more defined and rich. I don't know. I think I will try a pre-amp device to boost the signal. Any other suggestions?
Not sure what to tell you -- I use the S-DJ05's myself (love'm!) but haven't ever had the need to connect a PLX directly to the speakers, I usually go through a mixer with turntables.
Well, I love'em too! I mean, I'm quite satisfied with their performance and sound, so far.
I decided to get a turntable because I wanted to revive my old collection of LP's. But I guess the output signal from the PLX 500 is too low, even if it's got an internal pre amp. However, perhaps I should consider getting a little mixer too where I could connect my cd, turntable or more units. This way the signal should come out louder and musically better defined. Thank you for you reply.
