rekordbox / iTunes Sync / Feature Request

Hi guys,

I currently planning to move my rekordbox database and my itunes database to an external drive to be able to use two macs for my music handling.

While doing this I tested several combinations of moving the media files and the database files around and found a thing which could be improved in the itunes sync.

The current itunes->rekordbox sync gets in trouble when itunes (or the user) changes the location of a file. Changing e.g. the media folder is not an issue as you can use bulk relocate to tell rekordbox the new location for all files.

But if you change within / underneath the top level folder, you will have to manually reconnect everything.

Moreover I found out that syncing (e.g. via playlists) in this situation gets you really in trouble hence the old files will be newly imported (as new files), breaking even the relocate feature (as the 'new' location is then already in the collection),

My idea:

itunes provides a unique key for each file in the iTunes Music Library.xml file (e.g. "<key>515</key>"). If this key would be stored in the rekordbox database, you could easily detect 'duplicate' and or 'moved' files hence the number stays constant and the new location of files is updated by itunes in the xml file.

Just give it a though for some rekordbox update, it would for sure avoid some painfull support requests ;-)
