Unfortunately this isn't a possibility within the current rekordbox database structure, but we hope a future version will include more flexible data options, including merging two data sets. Thanks for your feedback.
Hi
I'm new to Rekordbox having switch from Traktor.
My current setup consists of 2 CDJ 2000 NXS2 1 CDJ 1000 MK2 DJM NXS2 mixer and finally an old DDJ-SX controller.
The CDJ's are for when I goo into clubs and the SX is used for smaller venues like winebars etc
My main PC is where I download and setup my memory and cue points and export them to my USB or SD card, however I cant get them to import onto my laptop.
I've read articles about using an external hard dive but firstly its a pain and secondly an external hard drive is more likely to get lost or damaged.
So please can we have the ability to merge databases to make our DJing lives a bit easier like in Traktor
Thanks

I'd like to pitch my support for this as well. Going even further, and something that would REALLY set RB in front of the others, is having a sync-to-cloud-ish feature, letting you fire up any Rekordbox install on fly and pull down your archive.
Needless to say, this is a very bald step that would require a ton of code and stuff to work.
The ability to use export USB drives in rekordbox DJ would be huge. Case scenario:
Using A DDJ-RZ with Rekordbox DJ at a venue and having another DJ plug their USB into the current laptop and continue playing.
Another scenario: I export a few playlists to USB as a backup while using a controller. If my primary laptop fails, I can pop the USB into another laptop and have my songs/cue points/settings ready to go. Currently I have to have a complicate workflow to backup songs/DB to another laptop for critical gigs.
@Harry > You don't need to sell us on the "why" - we're onboard with being able to do it! :)
@pulse - cool, i'm sure you've suggested this to the development team but just wanted to be sure!
Also -- I had originally posted steps to copying / cloning a Rekordbox DJ database from my primary laptop to a backup laptop, but recently I've had issues with RB having to reanalyze. Pulse - what do you recommend to copy an existing database from one laptop to another. Hard to manage my 'backup' laptop during gigs where I'm using my controller (vs CDJs).
thanks
@Harry > Honestly, the easiest way to do it is by going to File > Backup Library on the first machine, then File > Restore Library on the second one. This creates a duplicate database and ensures that the paths are updated when you move the database and all music (which is one of the options of the process).
You can also use my method (of exporting to an external drive) for easier syncing and portability, but it doesn't make a copy or backup (which I still strongly encourage users do as far too often I'm having to tell people they can't recover their primary database from an export device.
@pulse
Yes your method of moving to an external drive is nice, but like you said, doesn't allow for a backup. If the drive fails then you're SOL.
What would be nice is a way to just copy the database with select playlists. So if I have a gig tonight I have 200-300 songs that I anticipate I would play, I would copy those to a thumbdrive along with the backed up DB. In the event of a failure on my main DJ laptop I could get by with this emergency smaller playilst on a USB that I could plug into another laptop, important the database and have links to only those 200 or so songs..
For now, I think I may need to backup my entire library (and songs) to USB and use those in a second laptop as a failsafe.
@Harry > You could always export the playlists / import them on the other side.
@pulse . Thanks that may be my plan. Unfortunately the cues/grids aren't embedded like Serato, so I would lose all that info on the backup laptop. Don't care about the grids but the cues are important!
Pulse I figured out a nice solution -
1. Take a few playlists that I need, drag and drop into a directory onto a thumbdrive
2. then export collection to the thumbdrive
3. Load RB on the backup computer, insert thumbdrive, restore library
4. select all songs in the playlists i need, hit relocate and pick the directory.
5. Profit!
I was able to have a duplicate of the 200 songs I needed on my second laptop in case my main laptop dies.
