Sampler not syncing

Ver 4.4.0

Hi,

I was playing about with the Sampler but couldn't get it to sync to a playing track. Quantize and Sync are enabled in the Sampler section and the sample was playing in loop mode. It was just a trainwreck of beats. 

Interestingly going to other direction works...syncing a track to a looping sample.

I found a couple of similar posts going back to 2015 and 2016 saying it was a bug but I'm guessing they were fixed by now and I'm just missing something?
