Rekordbox Master Database Lost

I brought a new external and tried to move my data base over.  They are both not working now.  Is there a way to find out where it's located?  Don't see pioneer folder in either of the hard drives.  It's looking like it started a new database on both.  SMH

Please Help

@Angel > We can get you sorted out - can you start by telling me which OS you're using and what steps you took to "move" the database?

Thank you. Copies all my music from one hard drive that I was using as my master to another. Then I unplugged it from my Mac and opened up rekordbox. It said could locAte master database and created another one. I still have all my files but it’s not showing any of my cues and stuff. Also I initially used my external as master from the beginning. New to rekordbox and only have been playing with it a few weeks. I do like it but hope we can get it fixed with my database. I was trying to use two different external drives with my rekordbox on one computer. One with all my music library and the other Just with my collection I’ve analyzed. Hoping to be able to update the one with anylized music periodically from the master external.

@Angel > Moving your music doesn't simply move your database, those exist independent of one-another, but you say rekordbox told you it couldn't find the database when your drive was disconnected, so I'm thinking you're not providing me all the steps you took because that would indicate you did move the database.

To re-select the external drive database, you need to open rekordbox (with that drive connected) and open Preferences > Advanced > Database and select your external drive here:

It will show a drop-down to select the other drive when it's available.

You'll be asked if you want to switch databases, which you do, and then it will load and your collection will be available.

Sorry I did go to preference n selected move database. But I did it on one and then connected the second hard drive and that’s when it said it couldn’t find my database. It created another one. But none of my cues etc are on either. Can I undo this somehow?

Now we enter the phase I like to call "What did you do?"

Because you're not telling me everything I need to know in order to try and untangle the mess you're in, and potentially making worse.

Give me as much detail as you can recall, step-by-step in what you did, to get to this point.

Rekordbox 5.0 installed and database was on my external drive. Copied everything on that drive to a new one. Connected both drives to the Mac. In rekordbox I went into preferences and moved the master to the 2nd drive. When I opened up the second drive is was different. Connected the first and it wasn’t recognizing it as master. Now I’m here trying to figure out where all my hot cues and playlist for my collection went. :(. Maybe we can start for the beffinjng and get my Mac to recognize two externals which is what I was trying to do. One with all my music, iTunes, etc. and one with my performance music. Then I’d like to know how to update the second with the collection from the first to keep it up to date with new tracks etc. is that possible.

To make backing up and restoring of your Rekordbox collection including the collecting of tracks from various sources and sharing it with other Rekordbox users I've written an app.

Is there anyway to try out the app before I pay for it I just want to make sure it works and not a scam

Hi Angel, Google "DJ Conversion Utility" or "Denon Conversion Utility" to verify my credentials.

Payment is made by pay-pal so you are automatically protected.

you can download and read the manual for free

https://www.dropbox.com/s/qtk3jp64cwshe31/RTBT%20manual.pdf?dl=1

Trying to "scam" for only US$ 5,95 in a public forum is in general not the smartest thing to do :)

and finally you can see RTBT in action in these videos:

https://youtu.be/xhuuY_iiqAA

https://youtu.be/EZadqF_1PQY

https://youtu.be/_NI87HMNt44

These videos show what I wrote RTBT for. Only after I got enquires if it was available as a separate app I released it. Since it's such a straight forward app I'm still thinking if it needs it's own video tutorial. I welcome any input on that subject :)

I have found a great way to import Rekordbox Master Database to Google Drive or DropBox or Onedrive (I am talking about Database).
(This is not related to piracy or any illegal work. It is just a tweak).

Also, I only know about Windows (because I don't know anything about Mac).
So, basically, you will have the exact same Rekordbox database on all of your computers.

How does it work?

As you all know, Rekordbox has only the capability to move or set its Master database to one of the available harddrives.

So the algorithm that came in my mind was, if we can somehow virtually Mount the Google Drive Folder or Onedrive Folder or Dropbox folder as a separate Drive, then, Rekordbox will see that as an actual drive and thus will be able to set the location of the master database to that virtual drive which in reality is our Google Drive or One drive or Dropbox 'FOLDER'.

Now, in windows there's a way to mount any folder as Virtual Hard Drive.
This is 100% safe as well.

To do this, go to
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Here “username” is the login username that you accessed at Windows startup

Once in the startup folder, right click in a blank area and from the context menu, hover your mouse cursor over “New”. Now, from the side menu, click on “Shortcut” and a wizard will open up.

In the wizard, you will see a blank field where you are required to enter the location of the folder which you would like to mount as a drive. Here, type the following command:

subst X: “Location of your Folder”

You need to replace “Location of your Folder” with the actual location of the folder which you would like to mount as a drive (along with the quotes) and “X” with the letter of the drive that you would like to give to the folder.

In our case it will be
subst X: "C:\Users\<username>\Google Drive"

Then Save it and also name it Google Drive.
Double click on the shortcut.

You will get your Google Drive Folder as an actual Drive.

Everytime you start your PC, you will get this virtual drive.

Now select this drive as your Rekordbox Master Database drive.

Also, for all your computers, do this.

What you also need to do is, keep your songs on a separate Harddrive or NAS Drive. ON ALL OF THE COMPUTERS, THAT HARD DRIVE/NAS DRIVE SHOULD HAVE THE SAME DRIVE LETTER.
