Sharing a Database between Version 4 and 5

I have spent some time searching in the forum and online, but I have not had any luck finding an answer to my question.

I have been using Rekordbox DJ 4 for over a year with a DDJ-RX, and I would like to try version 5, however after reading about some problems I am hesitant to upgrade immediately both of my computers.  I have been successfully using an external drive to store all of my music AND the database for very easy sharing between 2 computers (I just make sure that both use the same drive letter for the external drive and everything works great! and of course I make frequent backups...)

I know there are some changes to the data that can be stored (16 hot cues for example), so I am wondering if I can use the same database on an instance of version 4 and version 5 interchangeably without any problems?

Thanks

Yes.

There is some additional analysis data created by rekordbox 5 which is not used in rekordbox 4, but it's still compatible.

Interesting, thanks.

Would there be any benefit from re-analyzing tracks that were originally analyzed by Rekordbox 4?

And also, while I'm here, I have tried out RB5 in Export mode, and I couldn't seem to find how to access any more than 8 hot cues.  Is this reserved for Performance mode?

The benefits are possibly outweighed by the time you'll need to spend verifying and adjusting beat grids after analysis.

Yes, since none of our products currently support 16 hot cues in a stand-alone or when linked to Export mode.

I think you meant to say that the benefits are probably NOT outweighed by the time spent redoing the grids, meaning that it is not worth reanalyzing everything?

Yes, I see that the 16 hot cues are really not all that useful for me since there is no way to get my ddj-rx to use them. It would be awesome if I could map that and the keyboard mode to hardware buttons like the loop slicer that I never use, or the strange mode that initiates when I double click the hot cue button...

Thanks for the responses in any case.

5.1 beta adds auto-mixing capability, which requires additional analysis for phrase measurement... so there's that coming up as well.

No, I meant that the time you'd spend doing all that work would outweigh the benefits.

You can map the keyboard to a good chunk of those features (in performance mode).
