Simple Sync without Master

Hi,

I was using Mixvibes before (but it also works like this in others like Deejay pro, etc.). In the 2-deck-mode there was no Master for Sync. The sync button simply adjusts the speed of the deck to the other deck.

For example deck 1 is playing, I load a track into deck 2 with different speed.

I press sync once on deck 2, the speed of the track in deck 2 is synced.

When I press sync another time, the track plays in sync with the track in deck 2.

So the sync is not enabled and i need to disable it again manually, but it will just adjust the speed to the other track.

Is it possible to achieve this by configuration?

The reason a Master deck is used is because of more than 2 decks, plus the ability to have other hardware act as the master source (eg. a DJM, SP-16, DJS-1000).

There are two sync modes; a full sync and a BPM-only sync. Pressing SYNC the first time snaps the beats together and puts them in BPM lock. If you press it a second time, it disables the BEAT SYNC mode, keeping the tempo. If you want to fully disable it, you'll have to move the pitch fader to "pick up" the tempo.

thank you for your comment.

I know that this is for more than 2 decks. but I just use 2. So I am just asking for a setting to have it act as simple as some other vendors.

Yeah... just press sync. Sorry, I may be misunderstanding what it is you're trying to accomplish vs. how rekordbox already works.

hey. thank you very much for your prompt response. Yes, how can I best explain it. I will try. I now tried again, because the system is usually not doing what I want. There are multiple situations that simply work on other systems, and that I would love for Rekordbox to work as well:

1. For example, I just want to sync a track. It will not sync because it is playing. It should also sync on a playing song.

2. I try to sync a track, but it will not sync. I then find out why, because this deck is set as the master. But what I want is to just sync the deck on which I press the sync button to set the speed to the speed of the other deck.

3. I need to disable the sync button after I enabled it. But why? If it is synced to the speed, why should it. It would be intuitive (at least for me) if the sync enabled would adjust to the speed of the other deck (which it does already) and if I press it again, it sets it back to the original speed.

4. When I press the sync button twice, it would be good to start the track synced to the other deck.

I understand that all this is not possible when using multiple decks but just for the 2-deck-mode it would drastically simplify the flow for me.

1) The sync does work on playing songs, so I'm not sure what's not working there. I'd need to know more about what you're doing and the status of the decks in order to have a better understanding of the situation. A video would help.

2) In that case, set the OTHER deck as the Master, then hit sync.

3) No, because if you have already sync'd the deck the software pitch fader has moved - you need to "soft pick-up" with the hardware to then reset it. Think of it this way -- if it were to LEAVE the song at that tempo and any movement of the pitch fader made it jump to where the hardware fader is, that could result in a drastic jump in pitch, especially if the previous sync was in the wide range at a high % difference.

4) That's not how it works, sorry. Set the master, press sync, done.

Hey Pulse,

thank you for your answers. My request is not about a bug, but about simplifying the sync process. For 2 decks, I do not need a Master for the sync setting.

You can have a look at how simple it works with other software vendors, like Deejay Pro even on the iPad.

Someone else has also asked for the same:

I'm aware of how other software does it, but changing it for only a 2-deck mode would create inconsistencies, sorry.
