Keep Track order for different Playlists?

How do I keep different playlist track orders?

I am creating a playlist for one set, that I want to be in KEY on my Mac OS X Rekordbox as its completely on the fly with another DJ b2b.

A second playlist, I have a running order and want them in a certain order?

When on the 1st tracklist I hit the KEY to order them in Key, this ALSO seems to 'key order' the other playlist(s) ????

Do i need to write down the order of the other and after 'key order' - ing the main playlist, I need to drag the second playlist order around so its back to where it was?? - seems a bit backwards?!

Secondly, once everything is bpm'd and right order for playlists - is the correct way to :

Right Click Playlist > Export Playlist > send it to my USB drive?

I have done this before but once I got to the club to play, i realised some where in a different order or some data was missing, even though they played fine.

I just wanted the definite way to send and save to my Pioneer Rekordbox formatted USB so it works in the right order with the right tracks when i get to the club :)

@Mike > Yes! You can do all that, but how you do it depends on what you're using...

If you're using rekordbox as your source and linking to the players, it's very easy to simply click on the column headers to change order.

If you're exporting them to your USB device, you can sort by KEY on certain players, but not all of them... so this is where you have two options. First is to simply leave them in a specific order and sort by key as needed, but you need to have KEY enabled as a sort option. Go to your device preferences by clicking on the device (left side) then on the right, click on Sort:

This image shows Category, but it's pretty much the same thing.

Ensure that KEY is on the Active list, then when you're on the CDJ you can press the MENU button and select KEY as the sort option within that playlist.

The second choice you have is to sort the playlist by key within rekordbox, then right-click in the column header and select "Renumber Track Order." Then when that playlist is exported, that order will be the default without needing to sort by key.

Yes, you need to right-click on the playlist in order to export it.

Right thank you - I have seen that box in your screenshot before, but i get a little lost with RB sometimes and its way of doing things, as im damn sure i have all this set up and exported, only to get to a club with a 2000nxs and it be in the wrong order?

Anyway I have done this as follows (and would love to know if this would show up exactly the same on a 2000nxs as I dont have one here)!

Playlist 1 - reordered the tracks in KEY so they progress down in Key order > Right Click on "playlist 1" and EXPORT TO (My USB stick).

When I then look at my USB stick in the "devices' they are indeed still in KEY order

=

Playlist 2 - reordered the tracks manually with "Renumber Track Order."   > Right Click on "playlist 2" and EXPORT TO (My USB stick).

When I then look at my USB stick in the "devices' they are indeed still in MY NEW order

If it looks ok in the USB itself in "Devices" is this exactly how it will look on any CDJ?

Thanks

They will show in whatever order you put them in within rekordbox, but on the CDJs they will sort by the DEFAULT sort order, which will NOT be the KEY. You need to use the "renumber" trick above for it to retain that order as the default.

Ok thank you. Not had a chance to try this yet but will tonight as time is running out towards my gig! :)

But am i right in thinking that if i set my key or my own order in the preferences of the USB stick (the same as 6% 10% etc / display contrast / CDJ Mode etc) that load on insert of the USB into a CDJ  - that this will format my lists and orders correctly to whatever I set on my Mac in RB?

as long as after you sort by key you right click on the top of the key column and "renumber" so the default is set 1-100 or so based on the key sort
