[SOLVED] Export to USB - R1 vs CDJ

Hi All,

Using my XDJ-R1 with recordbox through USB, I have to use an option in the preferences called "Create Library exclusively for" the select the XDJ-R1 option. Am I right in assuming, that I'm going to have to re-export to a new USB for CDJ usage? Or will this library type work on CDJ?

Thanks,

Samuel Alexander Spratt

No. You don't have to re-export. It will work in the cdj

RamonCC, I think you're wrong actually, the R1 has its own export category therefore if you tell Rekordbox you have the R1 and export it and then plug into a CDJ2000, the 2000 will only be able to browse the tons of folders RB created, not the playlists

It may work, but the recommendation is for users to create a new export library with the settings for R1. The reason for this is 100% compatibility.

Why the hesitation?

I own multiple cdj-2000nxs. I owned a R1 since the release date and recently sold it, to buy the RX.
Export your music with Rekordbox preferences set to the R1. When this proces succesfully completes ( doesn't do that all the time, but is not the issue here), it plays on the R1 (obviously), and also plays on the cdj2000nxs (not so obviuously, but my experience over one and a half year or so)

Typed on my Ipad, sorry if it comes out as one block of text)

PULSE - I think you've read my question the wrong way round! I am currently using the correct export settings on the R1 with no problems. My question is, with the R1 library export work on CDJ. It seems it will according to RamonCC.

However, I don't want to turn up at an event, and then have my USB not work lol. I'm not David Guetta so won't taking a pre-recorded mix with me.

If it is important, better be safe than sorry.

@Samuel > Our recommendation is that if you are planning on using both devices that you have a separate USB drive prepared for each. While they may still function, in order to guarantee compatibility, you'll want to export for the device you'll be using.
