[SOLVED] Nexus 1.11FW new bug, "Back" button stops woking (Fixed in 1.13)

So this is new :(

If I move any song in a playlist in RB, the screen on the Nexus deck flashes and now disables the back button. It's reproducible every time and clear what happens in the video

The format of these things just seems unrealistic and unsustainable. The players have a bazillion features and they support what seems to be an infinate combination of hardware media, software and operating systems. It's not surprising someone finds an issue with every FW update. It's not realistic to put these things thru their paces with every possible configuration. Hate to say it but it would probably be better for everyone if these things became a bit more limited with their OS/media/software optionality....

Hey Bri good find... But I have a question... Why would you move a track? To me that kinda seems normal what it is doing.. When the player is synced to the laptop, it see the playlist as it is.. Now if you go in there and start moving things around... It seems like it would be normal for the player to need a refresh to see the new playlist order. The player is just saying..... Hey! I don't see what I saw before.... So sorry you can't go*" back"* the normal way until I can now see the new way the playlist is listed.. I'm not sure I would totally agree that is a bug?? I don't know if RB has an internal refresh timing rate?? I know your very good at finding bugs and helping us all troubleshoot.. Just not sure if that one is a real bug, or something that has to be worked around because of an action the dj is taking?? I'm on the fence..

but I ma moving a track in a playlist I am not even in on the 2000. The way I found this was I was playing out of my "dance" playlist, they made a last minute switch in an intro order which I have in a totally separate playlist labeled "Saturday night" for that particular party, so i went into that playlist in RB to switch the order quick and now neither decks back button works. You used to be able to do this even when you were playing out of the same playlist if orders changed, It's only now i see this issue in 1.11

plus, at that stage hitting "Browse" is the same as "Back" and browse works fine, They have to consider this a new bug if it's worked fine all the time and now all of a sudden is broken.

I wish we could just go back to 1.06 at this point

Gotcha... Thanks for the explanation... I guess the bottom line is... If it didn't do this with the last F/W, and does it now?? Then this update is no good. I have not updated my players yet.. I normally wait a few weeks and see how things shake out here on the forum.

@ Fox      I agree with you 100%.  These decks are now so complicated that it's no surprise there are common bugs.  I feel bad for Pioneer because I know they work hard on these products.  I also agree that simplifying the players might be helpful.  For example, I would personally love to see MP3 support eliminated completely.  I know, I know.... that will never happen.  But I really wish it would.

LMFAOOOO  Are we REALLY feeling sorry fro Pioneer now??? WOW!! @Fuse... I'm sure they do put a lot of work into these players.. But What make's a difference is "Attention to details". And that is one thing that the competitors do that Pioneer seemed to have loose track somewhere through the CDJ history... I don't feel sorry for them at all. They have made millions of dollars off of gear that was not 100%. Yes they are innovative. Yes they have moved the dj world into a whole different realm. But it's about attention to details to me. And that is where they are missing the mark with a lot of there loyal customers.

OMG, I was just about to upgrade to the latest firmware until I read this thread. I've had my CDJ nexus just over 2 months, and I've heard nothing but complaints. I have yet to take my players on the road because of all of the horror stories I'm hearing. I feel safe using my Traktor Software, and my X1 controllers. I've yet to have a problem with this set up. I purchased the CDJ Nexus to rid myself of Traktor so that I could get back to a more hands on approach to DJing. However with more and more issues regarding these high priced players, I am truly thinking about selling. For now, I'll continue to practice in my studio with these players, but my patients is realy starting to worry me.

Ugh, I really don't want to give this guy an opening to talk about his golden ears but you gotta be kidding me.

I don't follow your logic 6sixx, you've had absolutely no problems with your cdjs but you're thinking of selling because a few others have? Doesn't make sense.

You'll mostly hear people complaining on here or discussing bugs and errors as it is primarily a forum to solve problems. The main thing is how you are getting on with your decks.
My advice is to spend less time on here and more time playing on your new decks!

@ Biacco    My primary complaint about MP3 with the CDJ-2000 is they often cause the players to crash.  MP3 files are easily corrupted... Simple fact.  I've been on these forums for a long time, and helped others troubleshoot their problems on the players.  More often than not, the problems are related to poor quality MP3 files.

@ fuse promote - surely a better way would be for pioneer to introduce some kind of mp3 file integrity checker into rekordbox?

The only MP3's that are getting corrupted are MP3's that we are downloading from sharing websites for free. I have never experienced any bad mp3's when downloading from a paid website.. Good Idea Phil with the integrity check of a tune.

i can't take credit for the idea pete - it's been suggested on here for years now but with no joy. instead we get .1 updates to firmware and rekordbox that fix one problem but creates two others.

i have had legit files corrupt before and crash the player, there's plenty of perfectly legal places to get music other than paid-for sites and i have had problem files from these too. promo services, soundcloud etc.

VBR files should not be allowed to be imported either, RB should catch these. Pioneer suggests we don't use them, They suck if you try and jump around a track and lock up the deck, yet they still allow us to use them.
