[CLOSED] eeerk! CDJ Nexus let me down.

OK,  as soon as I figured all of the bugs, mishaps or whatever was done with my CDJ nexus they let me down. I decided to do my entire set with my CDJ's and Rekorbox. I had been praticing for the last month, (mind you, I had them for almost 7 months), trying to make sure there was no issue with my CDJ's, and for the most part, I became truly satisfied FOR THE FIRST TIME since I purchased them. Well, I decided to take them out and try them in a live set rather than at home and in my basement. Long story short, what happen, well, about 45 minutes into my set, a few issues aroused. At one point, my BPM on CDJ 1 became stuck on 107.6. Mind you, I use sync to quickly match the BPM's because I was attempting to perform a few tricks in a mega-mix segment.  This was the first time (out of all the other past issues) I've witnessed in my basement, that this has happened. I had to reload the track and then sync it up again each time,(WTF). I could not beat match with the BPM stuck on 107.6. That is a MAJOR issue for a DJ that like to smash tracks and this issue reinforces my uneasiness using these turntables. Also, there is a continuous issue when I load a new track and try to hit the cue button, it goes all the way back to the previous track I played. This sucks because I don't feel comfortable using my cue buttons  to cue in a track. Again, this was my first time in a live setting using my CDJ's without using HID and Traktor. Needless to say, I ended up finishing the night pretty much using Traktor and my X1 and CDJ 2000 in HID mode. What a waist thinking that I could use my expensive CDJ's exclusively to do a party! I'm way passed my return policy on these CDJ's, but I sincerly wish PIONEER could give me my $3900 bucks I stiffed out to pay for these over paid controllers! I call them controllers, because that is how I use them. After last night, I will NEVER trust these things again!

Sorry about the rant, but I am so frustrated with these things!

Sorry to hear that you had issues but I think both problems are easily solved.

Turn on auto cue to ensure the cue point is set to each new track. Also when you're coming out of using sync, you need to move the pitch fader down to below the current pitch to 'pick it up' again. This is to prevent the bpm jumping when sync is turn off.

Hey phil thanx for the response. I thought at first I may have hit the auto cue off accidentally, but I pretty sure I had it on, yet I still encountered some random, 'jump back to previous track' issues. I'll have to monitor this some more to see if it is user error. As far as the BPM locking, what your saying is, I have to make sure the pitch fader is always down below the current pitch? Thanx for the information, but it seems like that's another added burden, (or unwritten task), that the user should not have to worry about. It seems with these CDJ's you have to work, to make them work like intended. Something is just not right with that, especially for the cost of these things. Nevertheless, I'll go back into the lab and put your advice to work, Thanx again:-)

no problem 6sixx, make sure you set play mode to single track and auto cue to on (i also set the auto cue to 1st memory point) in your rekordbox settings. you just have to load the settings at the start of the night and you know everything will work as you hoped.

regarding the bpm lock, it just becomes second nature after a while - if it wasn't there the bpm would jump to the current pitch fader value if sync got accidentally switched off in the middle of a mix. if you're on the latest cdj firmware, it gives you a warning dialogue reminding you to reset the pitch fader.

i think your problem has been that you're so used to playing via traktor and whilst using HID is great, it's not the same. the cdjs and traktor are very similar in lots of ways but also different in others and it's these small differences that are likely to trip you up unless you're 100% comfortable with the system. i'd definitely recommend ditching traktor for a while and just transfer some tracks to an SD card or USB stick, you'll learn the cdjs in no time and be able to use them to their full. if you're on a mac you can use rekordbuddy (£5 from the mac app store) to sync all your tracks, cues, hotcues, grids, playlists etc between both programs so you don't have to analyse it all again.
