Some files from iTunes importing as mp3's some as m4a's?

So I want to import all my files to rekordbox from iTunes as mp3's as I want to update the Key from MIK and this only seems to work properly on mp3's. For some reason some of my tracks have imported as m4a's and some as mp3's... how can I ensure that they all upload as mp3's? Some of them are from the same album but have imported in separate file formats?

M4As are supported, as long as they don't have DRM on the file.

If you want to convert your tracks within iTunes, you can easily do this by first changing your encoding settings (iTunes preferences > General tab > click the Import Settings button), change the encoder to MP3 Encoder, and be sure to set the bitrate values high enough (and non-variable). Then you can select tracks within iTunes and right-click to choose "Create MP3 version."
